260 gallon stand and canopy build

One thing I really like about the way I placed the plywood on the very bottom then the 2x4s on top of it then sealed and caulked the cracks and joints is it holds water. I had a dripping/leaking reactor and it held over an inch of water before I discovered it.

Good to know ill buy some caulking when I go to pick up wood for the top and bottom. Thanks for all the input and ideas!!

I ordered my last 2 reflectors last night to finish my canopy. Also got a 4" fan to add some air movement. I'll be starting the canopy this weekend as well as painting the stand and getting it ready to skin but we haven't decided on what type of wood to use. Got some stain to match our other furniture.

I should also be finishing my sump this weekend. Adding baffles and setting up a holder for my filter socks. I need to build some overflows inside my tank.

How much water can I flow through a single 1.5" bulk head? I'm running a mag 1800 as my return pump. I was going to make 2 over flows but if I can flow enough thru one I'll try that.

So far the stand is looking good, Good luck and keep the pictures coming.

Thanks. I'm working on it every chance I get. Most of the work gets done on the weekends. I'll have some pics up this weekend of what I got done. I'm trying to decide on what skimmer to run in this tank.

Looks like it is coming along nicely!

Thanks! I should be starting the canopy this weekend. And get them both skinned with some birch ( my wife liked the grain the best ) and some antique walnut stain, should look good when I'm done.

In just a little stuck on what to do for the doors? Any suggestions.

Lowes and Home Depot both carry a line of DIY unstained doors in many styles. I went that route and am very happy with them. They give you a price booklet with sample photos and a measuring guide you fill out and take back so they can order them in. It was real quick.

I will have to go talk I them today about those doors. I have to go there this morning any way to get some sheets of wood to finish my stand.

Ready for stain. It's not perfect but it looks pretty good considering I'm not the best wood worker.

Got the back of the tank painted black.

Installed a glass corner flow panel.

I'll be buying some PVC tomorrow and start to plumb the tank also I will be making a DIY durso standpipe this week. I have some help to put the tank up on the stand on Thursday night I'll upload a photo when it's on the stand.

It's hard to get every one to come help me lift a large tank. Lol

But today is the day I finally got enough people of ether to move my tank in and get it on the stand! Ill have more pictures this weekend of how things are coming together with the canopy.

Looks good. I am curious can you get your skimmer cup out for maintenance? It almost looks like it goes right to the top of the stand...
