Hi.

I currently have a 29g AIO with an unnecessary big sump compartment that takes up 1/3 of the tank swimming area, and that i don't even use 2/3 of the space anymore since i decided to remove the skimmer. So now it's time to scrap this one and move on to a better setup.

New tank. 27x26x11.4"(2" less in height) also built by me using 5/16 inch float glass and 15/64 inch for the euro brace.
And instead for a huge sump a simple skimmerless filtration setup.

Costume made overflow 11x5x11" and theeth on 2 sides for better surface skimming.
Very basic. Media basket, heater, return/ATO chamber.
It should arrive in the next 2 weeks.

DIY media basket. First shelf is for Filter floss/filter pad, 2) similiar media to chemi pure blue when needed, 3) some extra bio media from the other tank.

And because of the euro brace i had to come up with a solution for my LED lights.

DIY stand that i will use for the new tank as well.

Gravity feed ATO which works great!

And lastly some old pictures on the current tank. Still happy with the tank but the sump needs to go.

Hope you guys like it so far.

I'll update as soon as i get more done.

You could have just removed the false back and everything behind it? I'm getting ready to do the same with my 45 gal

Well that was my first thought. But then i started to think of the risk of damaging the silicone if cutting this out so decided to build a new instead. Now I also got that shallow look i wanted from the vey beginning.

Yes that was the second tank i put together actually. My first was a 45g shallow that i never started though. I got the glass recut and built the 29g.

Just need to clean up the silicone here and there and make a cover for the overflow. But besides that the tank is finished.

I will move over everything over to the new tank in about 12-14days.

Thank you!

Well, I do have a Magic DIY tool that makes the silicone pretty straight and even. It's been a major help. But how it looks in the overflow i don't care about as long as it's leak proof.

I promise you ...... I would have more silicone on me then in the tank!!!!;Facepalm

It is messy working with silicone! I've cleaned all the glass pannels maybe 15times ; )

Thank you!

I like the scape better in the new tank as i was able to turn it a little. And the clear silicone was a good choice, it looks cleaner and more sharp in my opinion.

Finially a new addition. A beautiful Fire shrimp that i got yesterday.

I feed the tank an our ago and he ate good. Seems to have found it's spot under the plate there.
