29 Gallons of SPS

One more question, how old is this system?
Will be 3 yrs this February. First 2 years the tank was heavy mixed reef. Here is what it used to look like. Only the last 6-9months has it been devoted to sps/acros IMG_2731.JPG

I add it to my ato. I've been wanting to switch over to two-part because but just haven't got around to it yet, and I haven't had any issues with the kalk.

Amazing!
How much kalk are you adding to your ato, and how many gallons is your ato container?
You’re also dosing cal, you mentioned...
Specific 2 part brand, or something else?
And how much and how often?

Sorry for all the questions; but to quote Oscar Wilde,
Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery that mediocrity can pay to greatness.

I add about 5 tbl spoons to a 5 gallon bucket (my ATO). The kalkwasser didn't seem to keep up with the demand for Cal by its self. Thats when I started adding Kent's liquid calcium. I cant remember what I set the dosage to, but its set to dose small increments every hour. I run through a 16oz bottle in about 2 months.

.011 ml per hour, perhaps?
Or is it .00032 ml?
What dosing pimp are you using?

Liquid Ca is around 3.3 ml / hour
Code:
(160 * 29.5)/(60.0*24) = 3.277
Thank you, I knew I was missing something...
Didn’t convert oz to liters.
Plus I don’t think dosing pumps can dole out that small of an amount I initially posted

I'm using the coral box dosing pump. I just check the schedule its .033 an hour 7.92ml in 24hrs I use up about 475ml in 2 months, or roughly 60 days.

Stunning, what is your nitrate level ? I assume you don't have any fish..

Beautiful biocube! I have one that I am growing SPS in. I can’t believe how packed you have it. I had SPS growing into each other and stinging one another. Haha. Rookie mistakes. This thread makes me want to finally create a build thread of my over 2 year old BC29. Congrats on such colorful sps! Wish I had colors like that. My green/purple small acro colony that started out as a single nub recently started to brown out.....

Wish I could say, I haven't tested No3 in probably 2 yrs. I change out nearly half the tank water every 7-8 days so it cant be too high, but I know there is some based off algae growth. I have one anemone fish, a wrasse, and a penny sized hippo tang that is hanging in here till he's big enough not to get bullied or eaten in my 150.

Thank you! First time I've tried sps in such a small tank. Sorry to hear about your acro. I had a near tank crash during the hurricanes and all of my acros went totally brown and ugly for a month or two.

You said you have a 6 bulb T5. What fixture is it, and what is your bulb combo if you don’t mind sharing?

Thanks
It's an ATI power module, I run 4 blue plus, 1 coral plus, 1 purple plus

Thanks! I apologize also, I didn't see you had already said this on the first page. I also have a 29 biocube. I have some sps now, but I may just convert to SPS dominant as well. Been thinking about switching it up some. You have an awesome tank! Would love to see a new updated FTS when you have time.

No worries! The biocubes are awesome little tanks. I love being able to observe the corals so close. I'll see if I can get a FTS later.
