300 DD Starphire

Thank you. I'm not much of a wood worker, but it's turning out pretty good, can't wait to get it painted.

Got my first order of rock!! 260 pounds of the Reef Saver Rock. It dosent look like that much when it's laid out on the floor lol. I will be ordering some shelf pieces along with some Tonga branches. I think for Aquascaping I'm going to try and do Islands, but not sure how this will look. Any comments suggestions welcome I'm not very good at the whole Aquascaping thing.

I also added a 1" drain from the lower back of the Sump to a floor drain in the furnace room behind the tank for some super easy water changes.

I love the island look. It gives room for corals that like to be on the sand bed and gives fish more room to swim as well. I have a 120 gallon oceanic and have a 2 island thing going on. I dont like the over cluttered rock look :)

Good job so far... Here is my 300dd and my rock layout that maybe you can get some ideas from. I used reef saver, pukani, shelf and branch rock.

I agree I like the island look. I hate the cluttered look plus more room for the fish to swim is ideal.

Nice !!! That's a sweet setup!!! I really like the aquascaping. How many pounds of rock did you use?

Well I started my island's in the garage tonight got one done on the right. I kinda just piled up some on the left to get an idea of what it would look like.

I believe I used somewhere around 160-180 lbs. I used the piece of plywood that the tank comes with on top as my layout so I could visualize it in the tank and see how much room I got to play with.

Thanks everyone. AriMiko43 that was a good idea on the wood from the tank packaging. I didn't even think to use that lol. I used a rug that was 12" short length wise. That way when I was building I would have at least 6" of clearance on each side of the tank and not accidentally crowd the sides. Do you have any updated picts of your tank you could share?

Making a lil progress today working on finishing the Aquascaping, working on the Canopy, and a lil painting. It's all starting to come together slowly but surley. Hopefully by tonight I will have the canopy on and lights installed. Let the cycling begin lol. All that will be left after that is making all of the cabinet doors and to finish painting. My kids want to put biggie in his new home right away. We are all super excited to see it come together! Here is a couple of picts of the progress today. Thanks everyone for all your helpful comments and suggestions.
