300 gallon moved in

Any progress on this project?
I have been taking my time getting it set up. Seems like I have about 10 projects going on at the same time lol. I have the plumbing finished and will be in Florida over Christmas break so I am picking up 100 pounds of live rock from TBSW. I am also getting ready to order the sand and 150 to 200 pounds of Marco Rock. I have three tanks all stocked with fish ready for their new home. A 20,55 and 90. All fish have been through quarantine and are looking great. I'm getting closer to having it up and running.

I get that! I’m slow building my little tank as well take your time bro and I can’t wait to see the product!

Nice tank.
Plumbing I agree with what was stated. The gate valves will help fine tune much better than ball valves. I do go higher in price for gate and ball valves to get a better product. It matters in the long run. Asahi ball valves are great. Turn easily and do not stick after 14 years ( I have mine and been running that long with no issues).

Basement sumps are great if you can do it. Less noise and more room generally for everything. That is my set up.

Just make sure you have a great return pump. They are worth the money. I recommend Blueline as that is what I have used for that 14+ years with no issues. Even bought it used.

Think ball valaves around pumps you will want to remove for maintenance.
Gate valves anywhere to fine tune.
Screens (strainer) can be used, but they clog easily and you will need to maintain them well. Like have tons extra to swap out every couple days. Otherwise, just use open drains as the weir should keep fish out.

Good luck and take it slow. If you want a UV, figure out the plumbing now, waiting is a real pain!

Cannot wait to see this monster in action!

I was in Okeechobee this past week for some bass fishing. On the way home I stopped in Tampa and picked up 100 pounds of rock from TBSW. I was very impressed with the packaging. I like the fact it was packaged in water instead of wet newspaper. After picking up the rock I drove 18 hours straight home. I did have a little die off but that is to be expected. I already see a lot of hitch hikers. The rock looks pretty good but I really haven't had a chance to examine it as I was extremely tired after the drive home. I did take a few pictures as I was unpacking.

Nice big " HUGE" tank, wish you all the best setting it up and that rock looks great, that's one thing I wish I did differently instead of dry rock and wish I could have a huge tank but sadly on 3rd floor would be huge task just getting it In ha ha.

Only experience plumbing my basic 80g up but interesting how most in this thread advising use gate valves rather than ball valves as in plumbing its other way around and that gate valves fail more often so always used ball valves where possible, ( not saying the people in this thread are wrong just what I got taught at college and years I worked as a plumber is all) little tip on gate valves never completely open all the way, just open fully then close just a touch and if ever get stuck then you can try open it both ways, this helps alot .

Anyway good luck you got a beauty of a tank,is this your first saltwater tank ? If so you more than took the advice of bigger tanks give more stability ha ha ^_^
