I was wondering if its ever been done?

Is 36" tall too tall?

What kinda of lighting would i need?

How thick should the glass be?

Would be a pain to try and reach the bottom for coral placement or glass cleaning, but it could be done. You could light it with a 400 watt halide in a lumenarc with some t% supplementation.

Also it prolly wouldn't fit through a standard door. maybe do 36x36x30

You definitely want a 400w halide in a large Lumenbright. I have no idea on the glass, maybe 3/4"? I don't think it would be too tall at all. A true cube tank.

Well.. My front door i believe is like 42". I live in very old house. One of the first mill owners house in lowell, ma

I was just thinking i wonder how many t5s i would need to light it lol

OO i know im just thinking of different options

It would be so much cheaper to buy one 400 and probably cheaper on electricity too.. and probably cooler than 12 t5s

its about 800 cheaper just to buy mh over t5s lol

One 400 watt in a large LumenBright. Just a 20K bulb would give great color.
This would be a cheap set up and cheap on electric.

I'm thinking 10k with actinic supp?

I could only imagin how much marineland's would cost

I could build it with starphire 3 panels for like 400 idk time to save some money

I know what your saying about price i just priced marinelands 150 36x36x27 and my local store said $900 for tank only

I acctually have a 400w 20k MH for sale, but the shipping to MA would be more than if you just bought one normally...that ballast is heavy.

Good luck with the tank.

Wouldn't go 36" height, unless you don't mind dunking yourself when doing work on the the tank. :) Go with the Deep Dimensions, it's a nice tank, also, building a stand is easy. A little time consuming, but still can be done.

I'm short, so 27" is the max I'd go. Maybe I'll go with the 200g Deep Dimensions once my 120g grows up a bit.

I'm 6'4 so im not too worried about reaching the bottom. Maybe a little stool to help just a bit.

I have a 36x36x25 and run:

400w 20k Radium in a Lumenarc
4x24" VHO actinics
4x36" T5 Actinics

I also have 2 LED strips (4 bulbs each) that will be added when my canopy is built. I will most likley run 4 or 6 of these strips by the time I'm done.
