3D Print a pico

Did you end up using the madesolid pet+?
No, I don't know a way to smooth/seal that material. I'm still on ABS ATM but looking in to Colorfabb XT, I think it smooths just like ABS with acetone but will have better properties then standard ABS. (still need to look into it a bit more.)

I did print one of the fan ducts since I got the new hotend installed.

but its been too cold at night here to print anything other then the smaller stuff. Even in the pic above that fan duct has some delamination issues.(which isn't too big of a deal for the fan ducts) It's time to either start getting the enclosure built and/or find a better material. I also had an idea to get a heater of some sort. (maybe a propane heater set-up with some reflective insulation foam on the other side... IDK)

Are you 3d printing the glass/sides? If so how?
No, I'm going to have glass cut.

I could print transparent panels, but they would not be clear enough that I or anyone else (IMO), would be OK with. (You will always see the lines from the printing process on a transparent part.)

I ordered some madesolid pet+ from amazon and am going to give it a try. The parts I need to make don't need to be water tight.

That article doesn't really say anything, doesn't even say what material they used. The comment from "Tom" is spot on.
Just something to be careful about.
After all Tom is fairly correct but should say 'cured plastics are not AS toxic as uncured'.. heh. Otherwise PVC, PET, etc, wouldn't leach ANYTHING.. Not to mention it's becoming more and more clear that a very large degree of plastics leach hormones. (at least the ones we've analyzed! heh)

To be clear, the studies (that I've read) haven't shown that plastics release hormones. They have, however, indicated that some plastics can release chemicals that have estrogenetic activity (EA) . This is not the same thing as releasing hormones. In addition, wines and certain vegetables also contain chemicals that produce the same type of EA.

As someone who has a 3D printed overflow box (abs) , about a dozen printed frag plugs, and a few printed probe holders in my tank, I can say, anecdotally, that I've noticed no issues. My clownfish are spawning frequently, I have a healthy leopard wrasse, Midas blenny, and neon dottyback. I have a bta, clam, lps, softies, and a single sps colony. All are growing and healthy. Also got a bunch of assorted inverts.

It's been almost 2 years since I printed the overflow, so if anything was going to leech, I think it would have done so by now.
