3ft Tank Lighting 2022

Excellent graphic! I think the 33" 200W version is the better choice in this scenario instead of the 27" 160W represented.

I had been running a single 300W (30") ViparSpectra over my 36" tank but recently replaced it with (2) Smat Farm G5's. much happier with the look and the ability to ramp up/down now.

I went with 4 orphek OR3 blue plus bars and 2 kessil A360WE. I think the colors are incredible and I like the shimmer. And I do sps on a 18” deep tank.

Reefbreeders makes a 32" V2.

I’m planning on getting the Tideline AIO 47g tank. It’s 36.5”L x 18.5”W x 15.75”H

I’m upgrading from a Waterbox 20 Cube with a single AI Prime 16HD. Should I just get another one and use that? Tank will be mostly softies and LPS as i’m newer to the hobby.

On a 36"x24" 75 gallon tank I'm running an AP9X and a 24" ReefBrite XHO Actinic in front to get a bit more coverage and to add some pop. I like the combo.

That should be more than adequate and probably by far the most economical solution.

Have you seen a 360 or ap9x next to an AI prime? How do the spectrum aesthetics compare? I would like to shoot for a more purple appearance if possible.
I really like my AI and the price difference was more than worth it to me. You can grow everything with them.

I have an AI Prime, previously on my nano, now on my quarantine. Great light for the money, but I didn't care for the disco effect. Kessil is more pricey but if you value a really well blended light, it's the way to go IMHO.

I think the Hydra 32’s LEDs are grouped closer and have better lenses. Mine don’t seem to have that problem.

they definitely have discoball effect to them a bit, not bad though at all and only noticeable in very shadowed area (IMHO). The ecotech radion xr15 is the step up from that and is made by the same company now too and doesnt seem to have any discoball issue at all to my knowledge.

Well, for a 60% difference in price, it seems like the trade off is more than acceptable.

the 32 is comparable to the xr 15, i do think if you want some savings the hydra is more than adequate. it is a very good light. the hydra 32 hd is 430 and the xr15 is 500 though

What are the best options for lighting a 3ft tank? A lot of the lights on the market seem to be made for a 2ftx2ft area or a 2ftx4ft area, but I was wondering what lighting would fill the gap between these sizes. I would prefer to stay towards LEDs but I am interested in all the possibilities. Thanks

If you mean because of light spill, LED bars would be fine to use.
