4? 5? 6? 7!!??

6 - I just added the cation and anion cartridges to see if the resins last longer. I'm on well water and suspect CO2 is using up the anion in the mixed bed.

Some additional info, I have a whole house sediment filter and water softener. TDS into the RO/DI is 400-500 and out of the membrane is 10-20.

I've made ~15 gallons since adding the separate resins and the bottom of the anion is starting to change color, the others are unchanged.

Running a BRS 6 stage / 75GPD unit with 1 micron sediment and carbon filters in garage.
Also have 20” 5 micron sediment & carbon filters outside in the water line coming into the house.
Just started seeing 1TDS coming out so ordered all new filters and DI resin from BRS.
System is approx. 2 yrs old.

How do you know its time to replace the RO membrane?

Spectrapure MaxCap 90 w/manual flush - 5 stages

source water - 75tds
pressure from the tap - 85psi

- 0.5 micron sediment filter
- 0.5 micron carbon block
- 90 gpd Spectra Select 99% membrane
- 2 capillary flow restrictors
one trimmed for summer water temps
one trimmed for winter water temps
to produce a 4 to 1 waste to product water ratio
- MaxCap high capacity DI cartridge
- SilicaBuster high capacity DI cartridge
Spectrapure 5 stage here as well.

I use this same system except I have the max cap 180. And I use the booster pump to reach 85 psi.

I'm running a 4 stage 75gpd unit I got from BRS. 0 TDS going into di resin and 0 TDS coming out. My water is treated with chlorine, chloride, and phosphate and out of the tap it's 70ppm TDS. I checked with BRS and they said I would be fine with a 4 stage unit and I probably will. I spoke with my brother-n-law, who is a chemical engineer, and he advised me to always go with more and to get at least the 5 stage. What do b-n-l's know? :D

Just a 4 stage here. My water is also not that contaminated and we still only use chlorine not chloromines. Not the prettiest setup lol.
