There was a delay caused by UPS. Overnight shipping turned into 2 nights

I would still dump them right in and expect them to get more o2 from my tank than in the bag. They will be acclimating to the temp and salt level yes but at least they have access to the o2.

It's not a lack of O2 that's the problem, it's the amount of ammonia in the bag. With the higher CO2 level, the pH drops and ammonia is kept in a non-toxic state but once the bag is opened and the pH begins to rise, the ammonia becomes an issue.

Ok well whatever you have to do to remove the animal from the hazardous environment to an acceptable one as fast as possible is my point. Most people who ship fish don't feed them 2 or even 3 days prior to ship... just so they won't pee and poop in the bags.

Many times, the animals are hardy enough to use the more well known acclimation method. But in a case where they have been bagged a lot longer than expected, the other method might be worthwhile.

Not enough.
Float for 20-30 minutes then Transfer fish and water into a clean bucket
Then . . . . Add a cup of tank water to bucket every 15 mins 6-8 times (almost 2 hours)
Then check salinity in bucket and compare to tank. If no match or very close, add a cup of water every few mins until youve reached salinity and trap fish in same cup and pour off water and release into display. Release under LOW light before lights out.

If salinity is lower than your tank then add them directly to some freshly matched water or add rodi to tank water in a bucket to match then put them directly in there and drip.

Basically with shipped fish. As soon as you open the bag and start dripping. The pH rises which makes the ammonia in the bag more toxic.

The idea is to get them in new water asap and then drip from there as needed.

i never drip my fishes even when they arrive on time just temp acclimate then release so far no deaths

No freshwater dip unless flukes or similar are present
FW dip can impose stress on a fish- not a good way to introduce a new arrival
A ruby bath or similar can be done but that’s why there’s quarantine

I would adjust my QT to match.

If going to the display, I would put water from the display in a container and add tapwater to match the salinity. Then you could drip, if you want.

True that! Good points! I've never bought fish online but I've also never quarantined anything, but I always f.w dip fish for 5 min from lfs despite visual inspection.

I am always to worried to purchase fish online, coral on the other hand I wouldn't buy locally lol

I bet, there's quite a few people that purchase fish online im almost sure the lfs gets them that way, in the mail....I just have not like i said, I guess fish id rather pick out like a puppy, in person.

I've never heard of this ruby reef bath, but I think that is a very interesting product, I will have to look more into it, thank you
