Hi! I looked through your other thread too, so can say with certainty that your tangs are cute little babies. The desjardini and blue are about a quarter of the size they get. So, agree with everyone else about removing them.

To get rid of the stuff growing around the Zoanthids I would use a soft bristle toothbrush. Looks like a golden algae. http://www.lionfishlair.com/hitchhikers-guide/ is a great starting point to figure out what it is and how to kill it. The anthias are probably starving. They need to be fed multiple small meals a day. 4+ to be exact. I'm not worried about the number of fish, just overall bioload. You currently have a high bioload for your tank. Not too hard to bring it back down. remove those two huge tangs, don't replace the anthias. See how it looks then.

I was told about the Anthias fish and their feeding habits so ever since they arrived I increased the feeding quantities to 3 times a day. But after a while they just started vanishing. I found one lying dead on the surface and a second one died in front of my eyes . This should normally leave me with 5 left, but it's been a week now since I last saw any of them. But who know's maybe they're still alive out there and well.

I've already decided to remove the Blue tang. A friend is setting himself up with a very large tank so he will my Blue. I'm very much towards leaving the Desjardini for now. Once he'll grow to a considerable size i'll raise this question one more time.

Does anyone here know about any specific technique of removing a Blue Tang?? He's quite the sprinter and it might be quite the task catching him.

When you say overall bioload do you mean fish and corals or just fish? If Corals are causing a bioload then it's probably LPS, right? So should I add just soft corals from now on?

You see, it's my first tank and I really dwelled into this world just recently so i'm sure you understand my excitement and wanting to try all that's good and beautiful

I actually thought about adding a couple of wrasses since I never had this fish and they seem quite colorful and human friendly... but you guys will probably kill me if I do

Just fish. Corals do add some, but it's so small that most people don't count it.

I have a 125 gallon and have all my biggest fish already. 2 clownfish, a yellow tang, 2 bangii cardinals, and an algae blenny. I'll be adding only tiny fish from now on. Gobies galore. It's all about balance. I could add 5 anthias and a pair of gobies and be done. Or I can add a dozen gobies. It's more or less the amount they eat to amount they poop. 3 tangs poop. A lot. 20 or more gobies poop about the same amount as those 3 tangs.

My tank's ok I guess. Had them water tests this week and from what I understand the result is not bad. But I added a couple more LPS corals today and in general my corals consume a lot of the calcium in the water. So I'll have to somehow boost that up. We'll see how it goes.

What a tank do you have? Any pictures?

Here are the two corals I added today:

1. Trachyphyllia. It's my second with such a coral, as the first one only lasted a couple of week in my tank. This one is larger and much more impressive so hopefully it will live a long and healthy life.

2. Indophyllia. From what i'm told this one is quite a rare coral. At least here in Russia. In my tank with the flow it looks quite similar to a bubble coral. Great looking coral!

Does anyone here have experience with Indophyllias? Is there anything I should avoid or do to make sure it's doing well?

Tangs do poop a lot! My Blue Tang actually eats on some of the poop. I guess another reason the Anthias have not done so well and after some time spent all their time in hiding is because of the small size of the tank and the bioload you mentioned. Had it been a large tank where they could swim around without having to worry about being face to face with a big tang, they would have probably done much better.

So yes I agree, it's all about balance. Only this way you can reach a healthy liveliness all around in your tank.

BUT! i'm still thinking about them beautifully colored wrasses

Hi everyone following me

It's been quite a while so I though I'd give an update on how things have been.

The following have been added:

Blue Tang was finally removed a couple of days ago. We had to literally take out all the rocks in order to catch him. I'm glad it's over with as he was really getting too big and started harassing my Trachophyllia.

Really loved this fish though : /

And one final more professional pic of the aquarium before all the changes. Apropo changes, since we had to remove all the rocks. my tank now has a slightly different set-up which I think looks much better. Pictures to follow.

Thank you. But I ended up giving it away. It just about killed everything in the tank.
