I have 2 yellows and a sailfin housed in my 150gallon display, 190 total.

I have someone giving a Powder brown tang .

attention Tang police , is this a recipe for disaster?

I'll have 3 in a 5ft 150. The PBT that I had in the past was insane. Maybe its doable since he's the last one added.

I personally think you would be fine in a 5ft. tank with 4 dependent upon what else you have in there. I would be more concerned with pbt aggression myself. I'm housing a mimic, tomini, blue eye kole and a little blonde naso at the moment in a 625xxl. Yea yea I know the naso will outgrow but I've got a bigger system in the works in plenty of time don't twist your panties lol...

Well the 2 yellows as they get older.... one will be more dominate than the other. The dominant one will stress the submissive one into starvation.

Sailfin is kinda a lone wolf but does take up realstate

A Powder Brown is a different shape and should not attract the yellows attn. But it may.

Problem is PBT will.in 3 years get to 6+ inches. That puts stress on all inhabitants due to spacing.

Can you do it? Eeeeeeeh, yeah. But not very ethical for the happiness of the fish.

I'm sure you would NOT want to live in your bedroom with 3 other ppl 24/7/365. Lol

See that’s what scares me the aggressive stories

I would relocate one yellow

I had a naso, purple, yellow, kole, and convict in a 6ft 150 for several years and all was well. One thing I found strange was the purple was added last and smaller then the yellow but ended up being twice a big. Maybe a dominance thing I dunno. Aggression was minimal but there were a lots of places for them to retreat to if needed. They all ate front he same pouch of nori.

Not so much about gallons as it is inches left to right

48" - max 2 Tangs
72" - max 4 Tangs
With water quality management and diet- easy to do with 6-8 or more.

This is my 135g Oceanic tank well over two years:

Can't just drop a generic term like "water quality management" with that many Tangs in a 135. Lololololololololol

Plz share some insight on "water quality management"

It should be explanatory - Water testing, monitoring feedings, cleaning filters, offering a proper diet (notice my fish are uniform, not thin), keeping ammonia at a minimum and the list goes on.

No problem in a tank that big just make sure you can handle the aggression between 4 tangs I suggest doing odd numbers so they can't gang up on each other.

Wow AMAZING !

Please share your secret
I have 38 years in, but water managament comes down to keeping maintenance simple yet providing the best diet, highest level of oxygen and checking all parameters daily as my tanks are fullly automated.

I believe the more the better, I have a 120 with 6 tangs in the tank.

Yellow, Purple, Gem.
2 x Blue Hippos
Blonde Naso

Do you have any issues with the copper band? I found one that eats Mysis and will be adding it into my tank this weekend.
