I have been starting and stopping threads because I get too involved with the build that I don't have any time to log it. Instead I am going to do a reduced (lots of pics) build thread so follow along if interested!

Equipment

-40 gallon rimless shallow tank (Glasscages)
- Stand custom by Rob Mcpheron
-30 gallon Custom sump by Steve Windrider
-Current USA lighting fixture (150 watt metal halide, 4x24" T5)
- 12 custom-fitted 3 watt LED's retrofitted into existing fixture
-Mag 9.5 internal return pump
-Bubble Magnus Curve 5 protein skimmer
-Jaebo RW4 power head
-150 watt Cobalt heater

Hope y'all enjoy since I am still fairly new at all this.

So about 4 months ago I ordered a 40 gallon shallow tank from Glasscages. When it arrived, there were a few issues with the tank (minor). I called Glasscages and they immediately made it right (great customer service). Next came the sump. I contacted a a gentleman named Steve Windrider who makes custom sumps through his online EBay store. Sump came in about 3 months ago outfitted just how I wanted it (great quality for good price). here is the pic when I first got the tank in the house, and also the sump as well (that was just a temporary stand and light).

I was working on a tight budget so I made sure to find bargain deals and spend where I thought it needed it. I got the Mag9.5 through a trade and is in like new condition. The heater, skimmer, and few other parts were purchased through BRS and Marine Depot.
I won the RW4 at an expo we had here in Houston.

looking good!! cant wait to see it set up. I would switch them 45's to 90's on the plumbing tho ;) hehe

Already done! That was the original plan, but there has been a lot of changes to it.

I got my new RODI machine with booster pump. This thing pushes some serious water!

This is the stand that came in too! Such awesome quality!! 1 large main door for front access with stainless steel handle. The side has 2 built in Super Quiet computer fans, and the other side is hinged to allow it to open 140 degrees to be able to move the sump in and out. Inside was painted with boat hull paint. The tile was routed into the wood on the stand (tile picked out by my wife).

Like I said, I am doing this in reverse order as I am actually filling with water today so I need to get caught up!!! Lots more pics coming!

For the lighting I went with a Current USA MH/T5 fixture because I want a lot more growth in this tank (always dealt with LED in the past). When I got it, the LEDs that were in it were non-functioning. I wanted LEDs incorporated in it, so I bought drivers and 3 watt blue LEDs to add into the existing fixture.

A quick little scan of my portable RODI mixing station. I have my RODI machine tapped in directly. It outputs into a 35 gallon brute trash can where I keep my fresh RO water churned up with a Jaebo WP25. I have a slicker at the bottom of that can to go into my other mixing can which has rollers. Once it goes in the mixing can, I add my salt. I have a Jaebo WP25 mixing that, as well as a Maxijet pump pushing into a homemade T-style PVC fixture. On the ends of the T, I have drilled holes in the poles so it circulates the water in a turning/churning motion.

Got the lights installed over the tank and started working on the plumbing. I went with all Schedule 80 PVC.
