Your tanks coming along nicely.. I would be a little concerned about the weight of that canopy sitting on your tank, people usually build them super light or hang them.. I know with that 2x4 frame and pallet wood covering it must be very heavy

i didn’t quite think that far lol I used what I had on hand all I had was 3 2x4. Getting off base. Or rather getting wood back to my house is slightly difficult with a cube.Your tanks coming along nicely.. I love on base housing in japan and the curlings are not really able to hold anything they are made of a really soft material almost like ceiling tiles lol.Maybe you could hang it from your ceiling, that’s what a lot of people do with canopy’s like that.. if it’s the same breeder I have (petco) the glass isn’t all that thick and I wouldn’t trust it supporting that kind of weight
I thought of that too but found out the walls are backed with steel beams. They went all out to make sure baby housing was as difficult as ever to work with lol.You could use shelving brackets of some kind and attach to the studs in the wall instead of the ceiling. Make sure they are steel and not aluminum. I have no idea the building codes in japan so definitely use a good stud finder.

I will look into it when I go to the hardware store again. Either that or I’ll lighten up the wood a bit.You can still use them just little bit more prep.
Steel beams tend to be narrower than wood ones. So need to be careful to find the center. Exploratory drilling is the easiest method. Then drill a hole in the center large enough to insert the screw anchors should be noted on the box what bit. A lot of commercial property is designed this way and one way they attach anything to a wall. Look up attaching a tv to metal studs there will tons of videos on it and weight limit will be similar to your application.
Does anyone know how long the brown gel on the sand last or do I need to get crabs or something to take care of it?
My LFS has no more rock at the time I plan to head back and pick up some more in a few days. As far as livestock I have 3 snails a shrimp and a clown fish. It’s just part of the new tank ugly period all tanks go through.. make sure you have good flow in your tank, adding a small diverse clean up crew would be beneficial such as a couple hermit crabs and a few different snails, it doesn’t look like you have any livestock so I would turn your lighting down or off and it looks like you probably going to need a little more live rock to provide sufficient biological filtration.
