40g Breeder Build (getting back into the hobby)

I bought a 40 gallon tank just like that a few days ago lol. I plan on using a 29g as a sump so my setup will be very similar. I haven't got my stand finished yet though. I'm excited to see how it turns out!

You don't think the 29g will be to tall? Will you have enough room to work in the sump with it being taller?

I actually was thinking about that but since I'm building my own stand I should be able to leave enough room to get to everything. My stand will be about 36" tall and the 29g tank is 19" tall so I think there will be enough room.

But this isn't my build thread so I'll try not to talk to much about my setup lol.

Haha very true be sure you start a build thread of your own when you get everything started. Love to see how it comes together.

That's what I have my sump made from. Ten inch baffles for the first chamber housing the skimmer and nine inch baffles for refugium and bubble trap.

hopefully ill have this up and running by next weekend as long as everything goes as planned...but that never seems to happen lol

So i made the decision today to go ahead and build a canopy. I was just going to hang the lighting off of the wall but i decided that i didn't want to drill holes in my wall or have ugly piping/rails hanging off of the tank so canopy it is i should have that built and finished tomorrow and ill post some pics up!

alright so i came home to a bunch of goodies today! Both of the rw4 wave makers my overflow brs reef saver dry rock and live sand! ill get pictures up when i get chance

I'm looking at them on ebay as well. I love the ghost overflow with bean animal drains. Just not sure if it's overkill or not. Glass holes uses a box and 90s to run to the sump. What's common for 40b as far as flow?

im not sure this is my first overflow build....also thinking about buying 2 more rw-4s for the back of the tank
