425 gallon reef tank build

Nice man!!! I had to come check your thread out as I’m building a very similar sized tank. Mine is a 350 gallon (made by custom aquarium), 96x36x24. I’m using a synergy Reef overflow, two siphon stopper returns and a combo of 2 MP-60wqd’s and 5 MP-40s for flow. I went with the bashsea 60” sump in black and Ferrari red. Super nice setup. I have the 300int as well, I see great minds think alike in this case lol. I also built my stand out of plywood. My tank has been delivered but I’m still finishing skinning the stand so it’s sitting in my garage until I can finish that and break down the 125 that’s in its future location. I’ll be subscribing to your thread!

That’s awesome that’s going to look so good when it’s done I unfortunately haven’t heard anything about my tank from them on progress.

Yea they are pretty backed up as far as production right now. It’s worth the wait!

Got the inside of the stand painted white, put the top on and started to instal the trim on the front of the stand, it’s coming together fast giving how many other project I have going on right now

So for everyone following Tuesday is the day I receive the new fish tank!!
Working on reinforcing the flow as I type this, feels like it has been so long but so fast at the same time.

Looking great! Really excited to see everything up and running. Thanks again for choosing Crystal Reef Aquatics to be part of this build!

Hey Stephen,
Thanks to you and discovering Crystal Reef Aqua I was so impressed by it that I ordered one for my build too! I'm interested to see how you plumb it. I got the stealth series not the triton b/c I don't run Triton. Naturally before I ordered it I researched some other companies and was wondering why you didn't choose or if you considered Bashsea? I liked their COVERS and wished my CRA came with some to reduce evap but I don't have covers right now and live with it just fine so i figured it was no difference.

We are planning on adding covers along with a few other new products soon! Once we have them in hand, I will ship you both a set, free of charge. Thanks again for using Crystal Reef Aquatics!

I’m not sure if I answered your question before or not but I went with a CRA sump because I’ve heard bad things about bashea and I liked the size of the CRA, I don’t plan on running the triton method.
It was really only by luck I found them though! I actually contacted them about a tank before the sump and stumbled on the sump section of their website.

Just got onto this thread, just in time to see the tank arrive. Stand looks great, looking forward to the rest of this.

I have tried to take as many pictures as possible with the progress of the install, I have plumbed in the return and drain lines over this weekend!

The drain- 3 1 1/2” lines coming out of each stealth box, 2 mains and 1 emergency.

Return- 1 1/4” main line coming off a varios 8 pump which gets reduced to 1” and then again to 3/4” to feed 4 3/4” siphon stopper returns.

So we are emptying the 300 gallon on Friday to switch everything over!
I purchased a gyre 280 to go in this tank that should be here Saturday.

I am kind of considering switching from kessil to radion gen 4 pros.

Does anyone have experience with one rather then the other??

Hello,

Love your thread and I have a 240 and I’m having my 425 built (well still on back order I they won’t get to it till mid October. But I went with the mitras ghl 7200 series. I only needed three and they are IMO quiet a few steps ahead
Of the radions pros. Plus you would need 6 to 8 radions we only three for the mitras and the mitras are close to 799 each. I would definitely research them as well. :) your tank looks amazing.

From your pics are you able to get behind your tank at all? I love how you did it but I wasn’t sure if that’s a door behind there or a window? How did you get it inside (the tank. As it being so large?
