I would of done the same thing but I have to build the stand to also act as a bottom brace for the tank when I put it on plus this is more fun lol

The bowfront tank I'm using is made by oceanic and the top brace broke well I emailed them and they said they no longer make glass tanks or the trims for them so my plan is to take both trims off put the bottom one on top and route out the top of the stand to perfectly hold the tank so there is support for the bottom

Wow, that sounds complicated! All I had to do with mine was remove a vertical middle brace in the back from the inside of the stand and replace it on the outside of the stand. That way I could fit a 10g sump instead of a 5g.

Newb but eager to learn!
Yea the gap kinda sucks but easy fix like ya said. That's why I usually use 1/4" plywood like oak and put it over the stand then use trim to make the corners look all nice. Maybe something to think about next time
