If you are linking tanks together, would it circulate better in the fuge if the pipe and bulkhead in to the fuge were in the center of the fuge? Do you have a specific reason for linking tanks instead of dividing one tank?

my main reason for using (3) 10 gallon tanks Is 1 I would be able to completely customize how I want it, 2 it would be cheaper to use 3 tanks since I already have them on hand so it would save from getting another tank, the only thing I would have to get it a hole saw and bulkheads along with unions incase I need to take a tank out for any reason.

also if anything happened where lets say the middle tank has a leak in it I would be able to pull the middle tank out and connect the 1st & 3rd tanks to keep the system going when I repair or replace the middle tank so there would be very little downtime.

hope that makes sense. in my mind using just one tank you would always have to have another one just incase or your tank would be down until it gets repaired or replaced.

OK, that makes sense to me. I was just wondering since I had never seen it done before. I only have one 10g so if it leaks I will have to rely on my HOB skimmer and power head to do the trick until I got it on line again.

Ok everyone, I've been thinking since I started the stand about if I was going to completely automate this tank with the fancy controllers and timers. Well I've decided that im not and I want to do this the old school way of regular testing instead of jut looking at a screen. Just like im doing for my 55g FOWLR I want to get my hands dirty/wet and actually connect with my tank to make it more enjoyable.

Please note im not dissing the controllers and the people that use them, they are a great feature for this hobby but I want to stay away from them.

And on an unrelated note: I love coming to this forum and seeing how nice/helpful everyone is and this is a perfect place to go to when im having a s**tty day here at work because of ignorant co-workers. Don't get me wrong I love working at a printing company in the digital department but this person makes me not want to show up.

Well good news I'll be getting a 150 gallon next weekend but I won't be working on it for a while because I'm gonna have to strip all the silicone off and take off one side panel to replace it since it's cracked. But I ain't doing anything till my 46 is up and running and it's perfect to me.

Yea I was happy I found it I'm picking it up Friday and it's was only $40 so that's a steal and the only thing wrong with it is the one side panel is cracked so I need to find a glass shop or order a sheet of glass online.

I'm thinking do everything with the 46 correct and I can learn from my mistakes for when I get around to setting up the 150

Yea money if tight but I have plenary of time the 150 will be going in the basement and we will be slowly working on the basement to turn it into the family fish area but that won't be for about 3-4 years
