5 Gallon Nano Fish?

Firefish goby
Clownfish
Blue damsel
None of those, unfortunately.
Firefish need at least 15 gallons, clowns need at least 20 and blue damsels need around 30. Even a single masked goby would be a bit cramped. You could make it a fantastic shrimp tank though! Sexy shrimp or pederson cleaner shrimp would be lovely.

i honestly would do a small goby with a pistol shrimp for a 5G best bang for the size.Perfer Yasha or Hi Fin goby as they stand out more and are more smaller in size. and for the shrimp try a red banded pistol shrimp if you want some color besides tan/brown.

that or do a green or yellow clown goby.

I kept a firefish goby and a clown in my 5g for about a year and they were just fine. Only reason I moved then is because I got a bigger tank there still doing well today. I'm sure they would be happier in a larger tank but I wouldn't say you CANT get those.

I mean, I CAN live in a sedan, but I'd be much happier in an apartment. I'd still rather have a house. I don't even like recommending juveniles in smaller tank systems unless they've already got a larger setup in the works or one that will be ready long before the fish ever needs it.

Plenty of people do things they shouldn't be.

Here's a link to liveaquaria for their recommended Nano fish. Each will have tank size listed.

Are there any fish suitable for a 5 gallon nano tank (Fluval 5)?

Green banded gobies
Pictus or two spot blenny
Yellow clown goby
Trimma or evota gobies
Barnacle blenny
Neon goby
Smallest of shrimp gobies like a yasha or hi-fin

Sexy shrimps are really popular for 5 gallons, not much waste and it's generally 1 Sexy per 1.5 Gallon.
I always imagined it like leaving a little extra free bio-load space so a good choice of corals can be added without problems.

I kept a Neon Dotty back in my now decommissioned 5gal fluval. But I didn't keep the included cover on and it jumped out. I did a water change every week and even kept two snails and two hermit crabs in there as well.

I actually converted a few mollies over to saltwater in mine (I have an EVO V), since I really wanted it to be an invert haven, but wanted a little swimming action. I know it isn't fun or glamorous to just have freshwater fish in your saltwater tank, but the corals and inverts still give it that salty vibe and the mollies provide some movement and are GREAT algae eaters!

I'm planning on converting my 5.5 G QT tank to a species specific Pistol Shrimp/Goby pair.
I would not go with a yellow watchman unless it is small and you are aware it will get big (around 4 inches), and may not be the best for it health wise long term.
I would suggest a Hi Fin Goby, wheelers, yasha, or any other goby that does not get too big.
Or maybe a yellow watchman if it is aquacultured since it may not get as big, and may do better.

But if you don't do that type of Goby. I'd suggest a Yellow, Green, or any of the cleaner gobies (neon, sharknose, etc).
You can even maybe keep 2 total (different species).
There are also trimma and eviota gobies that are super tiny, but are a bit rare.
Also cave, and circus gobies are good too

I have two mollies in my reef as well- I used them for cycling, since I wanted to ensure they were ich free. While I did plan on removing them, they’re so useful, so looks like they’re staying :)
