Newer ones are designed to fail off. The older style were notorious for failing on.

In fact, the newer ones have a self check so they will open if they fail. If you can't reset it with nothing plugged in, it's a new style that has failed.

If everything is on GFCI, the probe in your DT is optional. The only thing it would possibly protect you from is if your return pump was off and you had your hand in the tank the moment a powerhead failed. If you can add it and make it look nice, go for it. Doesn't hurt to have it. If you can't make it look nice, don't worry about it. You will still be better protected than the majority of aquarium owners.

Just take it out of the package, put the probe end in the sump, plug it in to any available outlet in your house, and you are good to go. You can ignore the little ring terminal.

Got the Mars set up from the side for the time being. Still no lights on DT :-(. Have different macroalgaes growing. Red algae, grape Caulerpa, and Chaeto growing nicely already. Checked my parameters. Ammonia is gone Nitrites are almost gone. One week cycles not bad

just wish I had the lights up :-/

Great news today!! Tank has 0 Nitrites. One week cycle with Dr Tims. Stuff really works. Added our first few post cycle fish in today. A wrasse 5 firefish One purple firefish. Lawnmower blenny and another type of plenty.

When I go on my fish tank tour this winter I will PM you and stop by if that would be ok. Since the heat has broke I am going to ride to different locations this winter and check out the LFS and if I can check out some of the tanks on here from Florida.

Did hear coronas?!! Long overdue lol. Wait till the full lighting system is installed. This is only 3 Kessils. This is the spotlight portion. Just ordered the Radion hanging kits. I may go blind! What a difference with LEDs.

Here is my thought, as I stated before I am thinking about rolling this winter when I have time, meet some of the members, do a quick in and out and shoot a couple of pic's post them in a thread based on Florida reefers. What do you think? crazy?

Never need a reason for a road trip!! Seeing some. Ice tanks is a plus! Also winter in Florida is like midsummer in the NE!
