72x30x18 DIY build thread

You know who to call when you're ready and need help ;)
Yes indeed! It's a daunting task.

Temp system setup
Moving everything over to temp
Moving old setup
Moving new set up to same spot
Should probably start now for the upgrade in 5 yrs lol

I'm not much for journaling so I'll keep this short.

@Goaway Did the close pin treat the coral boring worms? Asking because I maybe have 2-3 in a colony that ive had for awhile. Just trimmed some branches and the tunnels go far like you said. OOF.

Also, finally moved and trimmed the birds nest softball size piece as well as the monti spongodes , they were running into eachother.

Also trimmed a tip off the sunset as it was running towards and almost touching another piece.

I was complaining about growth rates being slow, now i see all kinds of issues long term :O

Yes,, the wire worked. The only thing is, the piece i have is a small nugget. So, easier to reach. The best bet is that ivermecin (spell check) treatment. Not sure how eggs work with those nasties.

And away....we.... go!

Glass is here, sump here, all the supplies to build and drill ready to go.

That's really impressive! I've only known 1 person who can build his own tank, but he uses ikea glass, so he is reeeally limited on what he can achieve...yours is masterful looking, compared to him at this stage. Cheers!

your overflow box should have came with the bulkhead required. This is the back of my Fiji cube and it presses into the 2" bulkhead that they supplied. if you can go bigger with yours and want to, you can always control flow with a gate valve.

Well done!

Best kind of reef imo, great for top down viewing and makes maintenance super easy!
Plans for a drop off as a next tank. :)

Maintenance way worse , top down and side views promotion

You are all over our group. Welcome. Feel free to add into the mayhem.

Spent 30 mins took apart skimmer, shell inside.

Wowsa that thing was dirty. The impeller was almost entirely caked with detritus.

All cleaned up good as new.

Have never done my return pump or plumbing.

Few other things should be cleaned up but.... Will address when I have more time.
