75g SPS build.

Forget Josh'e house. Lets get some water in this thing already!!!!!:pound:

finally got some water running through this thing. The overflow works like a champ and is SOOOO quiet. Minus the little trickle from the secondary it's dead quiet. The pump also hums quite a bit but I just need to place the pump on some rubber to dampen the noise. Tank is already drained again so I can take it off the stand and finish painting the stand and a few other small touches i.e mount the american dj power strip, paint the plumbing. I also need to level the tank some, I noticed that part of the overflow wasn't skimming as much. Soon.... very soon.

No that was just a plain freshwater test to make sure the stand wasn't going to come crashing down/make sure none of the piping leaked. Also did that to dial in the return pump and the bean animal. Just picked up the rest of the stuff for my RO/DI and some salt. I might eventually switch to regular red sea but in the meantime I just went with IO because it's cheap and it just being used to cycle the tank. I even went to Home depot to get the adapter to hook up my RO/DI to the faucet and forgot the brute trash can so I could start making some water. But I am going to pickup the rocks probably tomorrowm and no sand.

Got quite a lot done this weekend.Ive made about 65-70 gallons of water. Got the tank off the stand so I could finish painted the stand. Was going to paint the plumbing today but the "sunshine state" wouldn't allow me to do that today. Got the ATO mounted to the sump, which involved cutting a slit in the bracing in the acrylic sump. Stand is 100% done and just waiting to dry so I can put the tank back on the stand. I'm going to paint the plumbing tomorrow, I dont care if it's raining or not, I'll paint it indoors. This thing WILL be cycling by next weekend, if not mid week. A few pics. I know I've done more, I just can't think right now.

Got a cool little LED light from Home depot, it's not super bright but it's enough light for seeing if I need to do something.

Stand all painted.

Thanks Josh. Quick question. Do you frag/sell stuff from your tank? I know my tank is going to SPS dominant for the most part but I definitely want to setup a nice zoa garden and I've seen some of the stuff you have and it's absolutely amazing.

Great progress. This project went through 2 different DTs and 3 sump if I recall correctly. LOL

Oh man, this project has been all over the place. Started as a 40B restard, then I was going to run a bigger sump on my 40B so I built a bigger stand. Thought then I might aswell get a bigger DT. Bought a 75g and had a 40B sump. Traded the 40B sump for an acrylic sump. Then realized I wanted a new DT. Bought a new DT. Then I finally found this sump. So yeah, its been all over the place but, its done and humming along and cycling.

Just another quick update if anyone is still following along. Tank is cycled and now houses a small vlamingi tang and a few ginormous Mexican turbos.

Oh yeah, picked up some radion Gen 2 pucks. Just going to wire them to some LDD drivers and maybe control them via a bluefish controller.

This i-tech 200 should be enough for my 70g(total volume) tank.

20 minutes after having her in the tank, she went right to eating.

Picked up a temp light just for the fish (Current Nova Extreme 4x54w)

Then one of the ballast went bad so, I pulled all the guts out of it.

And am going to fill it with these radion pucks, just need heatsinks, drivers, P/s and a controller now.

NOM NOM NOM!

I know it's been a bit since any sort of update. I recently picked up a smaller tank for my g/f so I've been taking care of that. I am actually in the home stretch of getting some actual light over the tank.

In this picture we have x4 Luxeon M royal blues, x2 Vero 10 90CRI 5k's and x14 Exotic hyper violets. Due to a few changes I am switching out the Luxeon M rb's for Luxeon K rb's, because more lumens matched up with lower kelvin whites makes for a better look. Also adding some limes and adding some 405nm true violets. Final layout will be

Channel 1 - x4 Vero 10 90CRI 5k whites
Channel 2 - x8 Luxeon K 8up royal blues
Channel 3 - x8 Luxeon ES limes
Channel 4 - x14 Exotic 405nm true violets / x14 Exotic 430nm hyper violets

lso picked up a second sump to house my skimmer and return pump. The sumps are connected via two 1" bulkheads.

I also redid my aquascape, I know it looks like there isn't enough rock in the tank but I have an 8x8x4 ceramic media block in the sump, so that should make up for the lack of rock in the DT.

Few shots of the Vlamingi.

And also picked up a BRS dual reactor for GFO and carbon.

Phew, it's been some times since I updated this thread. Just incase is still following. Okay so the lights are done and looking great. Added some coral, all SPS.

All the lights fired up at 100%, I can't lower the percentage so I have to reset the controller each day and run the lights at 18%, the new controller should be here soon.

All channels at 1%

Miami orchid, I broke off the dip while dipping it, it is however starting to heal over it.

Unknown Millie.

Unknown green acro

Incredible hulk acro, I accidentally used regular super glue and not the gel so this happened. Hoping atleast part of it makes it.

Acropora loripes, next to unknown green acro.
