Now when you say almost purple you are actually around 5ppm

The test goes as high as 5.0ppm and that's high.

I'm confused.

The Red Sea and Salifert nitrate kits read way higher than 1 ppm. Red Sea reads to 65 ppm.

You're some where around 4 I see, not really to worried about a few WC and it will go down a bit, make sure you don't go lower than 2.0 ppm.
