8 days reef flux hd - bryopsis

I'm only on day 8. I started with about 8 to 12 ppm no3 per red Sea pro kit. My po4 is only .045 so I'm happy with that via Hanna ulr phosphorus checked. Back to no4. It's going up. And up. Skimmer is back on. But I know this is a 21 day treatment. But my no3 is already going up. The red Sea never matches a color but I'm afraid it's going up. I took pics of the colors at high range

I did 17 days and realized the redish algae.onnsand was coolia Dino's so I stopped and now battling Dino's with 2 uv. Ordered bottles and bottles.of pods. Bought a culture kit so dosing phyto and pods to flood it hopefully but not winning. Dosing lots of po4 and by time I wake up po4 is .048 so I dose again and again to keep it at 1. But drops . And rock is getting hairy lol. But Dino's still show up on sand even basting sand and rock daily.

I see why people sell there systems.

Close to shuting down the flow and draining and selling. Only thing keeping me going isni haven't lost a single fish.

I used Dr. Tim's Waste Away and that seemed to help along with cutting back my photoperiod.

I ordered that. I have waste away. And just read about silica so ordered the brightwell one. I'm willing to try all. Snails dues. I have a few. But I don't want anything clean yet so that doesn't kill me besides the hair everywhere and sucking up po4 as I try to keep it at .1. So I guess I'll try waste away. How did u dose it. I've read some fish die so I'm nervous.

Look at pics. I'm growing hair like crazy. Which is what I want to outcompete.

I just went with the recommended dosage IIRCC. I didn't lose any fish to it.

How many doses did u have to do. If you remember. And is their a best time to dose. Like lights out ?

I think it says start half doseage first. Which I'll definitely do

I don't remember on that one unfortunately. It was a couple of years ago. I think I just kept dosing until the bottle was done. I don't remember dose size at all. I do remember using the whole bottle.

They beat me. I didn't realize it was dinos until it was too late. They killed most of my corals when I decided it was over. BUT, @brandon429 rip clean threads gave me a last minute change of plans. While not a typical rip clean, I did tear apart the tank keeping the fish and starting anew. I have to say, even though I lost my tank to dinos, the fresh start is psychologically inspiring. I'm glad I took this approach after being beat down and nearly out. I'm psyched at my redo and loving the not seeing that brown snot.

I'm not seeing a lot of corals in your tank. Any chance you can pull rocks out of the tank. If you can pull them out, spray with an H202 solution, scrub with a brush, rinse clean, and then put back. By itself I don't think it will beat the dinos, but by removing dinos in bulk out of the tank, I have to believe it will help the UV and the dosing finish the job. It's something the rip clean process does to get rid of algae.

I am going to follow this thread just so I can witness someone taking these suckers down since I couldn't.

Man i got a uv in sump. A 55w uv in display. Dosing po4 and keeping no4 at like 7 or so now. Skimmer wet. Adding pods over next 2 weeks. Also starting to culture phyto and pods to flood tank to help. I got GHa going crazy but sand is getting Dino's still. Wasteaway will be next when it ships. And silica after that. If u want Me to stay here and update I can. No problem. Anyone else with idea how to help. I'd love the help. Dosing po4 is harder as I think GHA is just taking it so it drops to .04 by morning when I get home.

Struggling. It's not really on rocks. It's only on sand.

I saw in the other thread the stuff in the sand bed is cyano (common when knocking off dinos).

I don't have cyano growing on sand yet. It's on tips or parts of the rock in the GHA. Sand is only Dino's still ..I can't keep them off. They seem to sit and settle on sand like around the rock base and such

So I knocked down the GHA a little. Lightly brushed it. It was eating po4. And I had little Dino's inside it. So I scrubbed and slapped filter socks in and removed a good amount. Still help uv in display to suck through all of it. I know I'm not suppose to do that cause it suppose it outcompetes Dino's. But I had to. I couldn't take it anymore. I'll continue to dose and when it grows I'll do it again lol. But I hate this. I wanna give my stuff away lol

Be careful with waste away as it will drop your phosphates fast. Im currently almost done beating dinos after a month and almost no trace left. I stopped adding waste away and just trying to keep phosphates levels stable above 0.05.

How long did u use waste away for. And how often did u dose.

I'm actually starting the silicate dosing route. Day 2 today

I used waste away for just 1 week then completely stopped and just started to dose phosphates to keep it above 0, a month later and i still gotta dose phosphates but its getting stable. Dinos almost completely gone. Also siphoning them out and putting the same water back into the tank helps a TON specially if you siphon it through a 1 micron filter sock since dino cells cant go through that.
