A couple from the top side

And what are the encrusting corals behind your pink lemonade? How's your chalice addiction coming along?

Thats the base of the PL and to the left is the rainbow montipora covering the overflow. The addiction is somewhat under control at the moment but I find myself staring at the tyree pink watermelon for extended periods of time

Isn't is crazy how much the PL encrusts? I have a 5" colony of PL and its 50% base. O_O Course most of my milles encrust a lot too. Its kind of frustrating waiting for mille frags to grow out, I wish they'd put as much energy into growing branches as they do into encrusting everything. lol And I have Tunzes in my tank, so its not a flow problem. How many different milles do you have btw? Looks like quite a few.

Here's my PL for comparison. It's still a little light cause I had an aquaconnect bulb over that side of the tank, but had to switch back to the Radium because the AC bulb was too strong.

Oh man,I lost count a few years ago but an estimate is 10 or so and I am at work so I cant count.lol
Corals seem to encrust large for a couple reasons IME
Genetics plays a big part and some will not grow a single branch until they feel fully anchored and encrusted
Frags with active growing tips will grow up before out much of the time but stressing that same frag and sending it into dormancy will force it to encrust large to form non dormant active growth tips before it bolts again.I see this alot with acros grown in frag systems and not so much in large stable display tanks.
Frags that have no active growth tips and are stressed before you ever lay hands on them will also encrust large before going up if they survive.Of course flow and light will effect this also .

Thanks,No its the ORA German Blue Polyp acro under radiums with no actinic

Ive said it before but you have a spectacular setup! Why hasn't this been TOTM yet?? Rev! :p
