How would I survive?

If I do not receive a product I payed for and the company I purchased it from will not do anything I will do what ever I can to get my money back.
You will survive but it will certainly make life harder in some cases. Amazon has the largest selection of items of any store and I can tell you from experience that sometimes when you cannot find an unusual product on Amazon it can be a royal pain in the rear to find someone else that sells it.
I would hate to know that the largest seller on the planet was no longer even an option to use.
I don't like eBay and I rarely use it but it would be rough if i was banned. When I do use it, it's because its one of the few places that has the item I need.

I honestly think that it is USPS that is ruining it. I have had so many package problems with them of late that I just stopped calling them. You will see a package marked as delivered but the package actually arrives two days later. Sometimes you see a message on the tracking that the package is out for delivery and then at the end of the day you see "The package is waiting for pickup". My same friend said that he has heard that the no overtime thing has made everything go to hell because the Covid situation has caused a huge increase in packages but USPS and UPS have at the same time basically down sized.

My son has actually said the same to me. I'm not sure if it's the OT thing or a lazy driver. His mail box is at the end of his driveway and if he has a lot of mail that particular day his driver will scan the package as delivered and not leave it in the box until the next day when the box is empty again. My drivers always set them on the porch when they wont fit in the box.

I think with everything going online due to fear it has just increased workload so much they cant keep up. I cant even imagine the amount of lost packages going on right now. The carriers weren't great to begin with & now the workload is tripled.

Before this started I ordered a certain item 4 times. Everytime it would be out for delivery & by end of day then never show up. Amazon refunded but how does it get that far then dissapear
I wouldn't go so far as saying fear.

Most people just don't want to deal with the stupid BS the stores are cramming down everyone's throat.

I also think its USPS. I ordered a Sicce SK400 skimmer pump from @SaltwaterAq and the notification said the item was delivered on Friday but it never arrived. Even now it hasnt but the impeller i ordered a few days before arrived without a hitch. @SaltwaterAq told me they have seen this with them before and i should contact them in a few days if i still dont see it. So fingers crossed.

This post is garbage at its beginning. Amazon is a large company, at its base. I've been a prime member since being a prime member became a thing. If you are unhappy stop your membership and write them. Blow steam somewhere else.

I really don't understand why people think they are entitled to have a replacement item immediately sent to them when the issue was with the carrier. Amazon did their part, they shipped out the item, and UPS failed to deliver it properly. Amazon said they wanted to check with the carrier, but OP demanded they refund him immediately instead. How is this logical? When someone orders from an online store, they know that the item has to be shipped, and that things can go wrong during shipping. It's not Amazon's fault. It's not a fun situation to be in, but the problem is with UPS. If you sell something on the forums here, and there was a problem with shipping, are you going to instantly refund the person or are you going to want to be able to file a claim with the carrier first? What if the package was delivered and the person was lying about not receiving it?

Also, before Amazon, I don't know a single company that would offer refund or send a replacement without a claim being filed with the carrier first. Amazon spoiled people with great customer service, yet people freak out when their self-entitlements aren't fulfilled when Amazon tones it down a bit once in a while.

While i agree with you about the procedure to file a claim etc to see what happened to the item, i believe 1. This should be done by the seller as you had mentioned before with Amazon and 2. The client should give the seller a chance to see what can be done to remedy the situation as the delivery company has caused them to lose face.

I however strongly disagree that Amazon is no longer liable as they shipped out the item. The contract of purchase and delivery was made with Amazon and the customer, not the customer and Amazon's or any company's choice of shipper. The person spent hard eaened money and bought an item that was promised to be delivered by the seller and legally, all issues lay between the seller and the customer not the shipper the company chose.

Those that choose not to read fine print amaze me....

Read the original post again you probably did not read what I said.
The package was delivered to the wrong house and USPS told me to contact Amazon and have them ship out another one or refund me and that they would refund Amazon as the shipment was considered lost. I did not demand an immediate refund I asked them to contact USPS and confirm that the package was delivered to the wrong location so I could get my refund! Why should i have to wait for USPS to refund Amazon?

If you bought a new TV because your TV stopped working and that new 65" OLED TV was shipped to the wrong house and had disappeared would you be willing to go without a TV or wait a month for a $2300 refund while Amazon and USPS duked it out?

Anyway you missed the point of the post which was simply to let people know that in the past the CSR reps would normally not hesitate to fix the problem right away but that has now changed so beware because if USPS screws up your order you may have to wait a month for a refund.

I think it's pretty easy to understand why people think they are entitled to an immediate replacement or refund. Amazon has created an environment of relatively instant gratification when it comes to ordering things online. And with that, comes the demand for instant gratification when a problem arises with an order. Two sides to the coin and Amazon should have to deal with it because they have created the problem in there customers mentality towards online purchasing.

JMO I avoid using Amazon and Ebay as much as I can and have only made a handful of purchases since they came around.

Here in San Diego California Amazon has 2 large warehouses. 1 in downtown and 1 in Rancho Bernardo. The one in Rancho Bernardo is a same day delivery warehouse and it’s about 10 mins away from me. All my packages are always delivered personally by Amazon employees driving Amazon sprinter vans. I live in an apartment complex with my girlfriend. We probably order 200 packages worth of stuff from them yearly and I’d say 35% of them are delivered to the wrong address lol. Despite having special instructions on our account that saids please knock and ring doorbell , double check address , look for amazon sign on front door etc packages still don’t get delivered correctly. Sometimes people that live in the complex will bring it to us and sometimes It never shows up. In that case I always contact them they see my account they can see the pictures of the doorstep don’t match my doorstep clearly and they always resend the package or refund me Which just happened a couple days ago. It’s unfortunate when you order some pricey things and they don’t get delivered correctly. Everyone works hard for their money and it’s not fair for the consumer to get shafted because a delivery service dropped the ball. I don’t think the company supplying the product should have to take a hit due to negligence on delivery either. It seems like Amazon has recognized this for awhile since they have their own vehicles and delivery personnel taking care of things here in San Diego which will probably continue progressing nationwide. Anyways jus thought I’d share my experience and .02 cents while I wait for my shrimp quesadilla.

[UPS said] that I should contact Amazon and tell them to contact UPS so that they can file a claim with UPS and get refunded"

Yes, that's usually the process for filing a claim on a lost package, the sender is the one who files the claim. Nowhere do you mention UPS told you to tell Amazon to refund you or ship you a replacement.

You were shocked you weren't offered an immediate refund/replacement and wanted the CSR to call UPS at that exact moment, but she wasn't able to do that, it was a different department that does that. That's pretty standard at businesses, a typical CSR rep isn't going to be filing a claim with a courier. They didn't say you had to wait until they were refunded by UPS, only confirmation from UPS, which could easily have been something done within 24 hours or less.

I would say that being shocked, telling the CSR to put you on hold and call UPS right then and there, and when told no, you had them look at how much money you spend there to get them to send you a refund/replacement. I would say that whole situation qualifies as you demanding an immediate refund/replacement.

Also, I know of a few people who spend a lot of money on Amazon will occasional lie and report a package as to Amazon and get refunded, relying on their purchase history to prove that they are trustworthy.

If you bought a new TV because your TV stopped working and that new 65" OLED TV was shipped to the wrong house and had disappeared would you be willing to go without a TV or wait a month for a $2300 refund while Amazon and USPS duked it out?

Yes. I'm currently in a similar situation right this very moment. USPS said power-washer detergent I ordered from Amazon was delivered to a parcel locker on August 10th, but I never received it nor a key to the locker. USPS is still investigating, and I still don't have a clean driveway or a refund. Sometimes these things happen.

Anyway you missed the point of the post

I guess so.

Also Amazon is trying to grab as much business as they can from brick and mortar stores.
Just imagine If you went into Best Buy and bought a TV and then went around the back to pick it up and found out it was not there and then they tell you that your TV had mistakenly been given to another customer and you will have to wait until they do an investigation to see what happened.
Oh yeah I am sure @ARAJEA would just calmly wait a few weeks for them to get back to him. I know that they would have to give me another TV right away and sort out there internal screw up after I am gone.

You think that best Buy wouldn't want to spend at least a few minutes trying to figure out what happened? Get real man.
