About to start dosing stump remover

Nitrate Levels
8/5 15:00 : < 1ppm (undetectable)
8/5 15:30 : Added 225ml (4.1ppm) nitrate
8/5 18:00 : 2ppm
8/6 00:00 : 2ppm
8/6 00:15 : Added 150ml (2.7ppm) nitrate
8/6 17:15 : 3ppm
8/6 17:30 : Added 150ml (2.7ppm) nitrate
8/7 11:30 : 4ppm
8/7 12:00 : Added 180ml (3.2ppm) nitrate

Any apparent change in the tank?

You won't see a change in your Coral for a while. You'll get a lot more algae growth though so hopefully you have some hungry tangs and snails

8/8 22:00 : 5-7ppm (hard to tell exactly)
8/9 22:00 : 5ppm (looks exactly 5ppm, will see if it drops below tomorrow)

8/10 22:30 : Barely 5ppm
8/10 22:35 : Added 50ml (0.9ppm) nitrate

May be starting to find a point on figuring out what to dose regularly

Any update to this? As I'm having similar issue with zero nitrate and thinking of dosing stomp remover to increase it. Thanks.

It worked, it got my nitrates back up, but my coral are still not doing well. Still a mystery to me.

Same happened to me when I started dosing. I was dosing 1ppm per day to keep NO3 at 1-2ppm. Corals started getting burnt tips and showing messenterial filaments. Alk never went above 8 the entire time. Stopped dosing and most corals have recovered. Lost 1 no name acro...

Started on stomp remover a little over a week at 2.5-5 and keeping N04 at around .3-.5, don't see too much of a differences. My system eats up 2.5 No3 a day. Is this normal consumption?

Thanks.

I dont think the stump remover caused any issues, just a diatom outbreak. I'm siphoning the sand every 3 days now and will read up on peroxide or other methods
When I keep the diatoms off the corals they look 33% better, but still not quite there yet

Stump remove? Really? These posts totally blow my mind.

First time I saw it I thought it was one of those jokes where they tell you to drill a hole in your iphone screen to replace your battery and tricked like a 1000 ppl to do it and destroy their phone. I was like "yeah right I'm going to put stump remover in the tank and kill everything", but what do you know, it works :)

Any update on this. Seems like this topic has become more popular recently. Haven't seen many do it long term.

Definitely worked in regards to keeping my nitrates up. The lack of nitrates were not what was causing my issues, but that doesn't mean this was flawed in anyway.

I know what You mean . I thought no way ! It works with no obvious ills. At 1st the tank will use up a lot then all a sudden it stops so be careful not to over shoot your target.

Like I said I have been using this stuff for a while however I see dark stuff floating in the solution so I will take Randy's advice & get some food grade Sodium Nitrate. I'm having to dose regularly now so why take the chance of adding impurities over a long time.
