Acans not looking good

i had a similar problem very recently, i thought it was my po4, it looks like it was my carbon. i was running rox 0.8 in a reactor for the last several months, my acans used to look good but then closed up simliar to yours and never opened again, once i replaced rox 0.8 with triton carbon (less aggressive) , my acans have slowly begun to get plump
Do you have a link to which carbon you use??

Maybe light and lack of nutrients (PO4) shock after the blackout? That would account for the loss of the plate coral as well. What exactly happened with it? What did it look like?

I wouldn't count out a pest being the culprit. Maybe check for nocturnal pests with a flashlight after night has set in.

Tough problem.

I personally have no problem adding PO4 to my system in the form of NeoPhos from Brightwell Aquatics (when PO4 becomes undetectable). You can also use food grade tri-sodium phosphate (Na3PO4) which you can order online.
I acclimated the corals back to lighting. First day back just room light. 2nd day 17%, 3rd day 30%. Then normal which for my lights is 40%.

As soon as I unwrapped my tank I noticed that a arc about 1" diameter and 1/8" deep on my plate coral was light grayish. Just figured it was due to lack of light. Next day noticed it's "tennacles" which were very pronounced were half their normal width and length. Over the next few days more gray set it and in a few days was gaping and showing lots of skeleton. No idea if this had anything directly to do with the blackout, but it was very healthy before.

Sounds like something else then for sure. That's crazy about the plate coral, that's definitely out of my league. Bacterial infection/predator maybe? I dunno man.

It had been in the exact same spot for 3 months and was doing amazing. Growing and thriving. Then this. Got.no clue either.

Hmmmmmm, that's the same carbon I run. Maybe I'll try that too.

I've ran it for a little while. Only a small amount in a nylon stocking. I keep it changed regularly. But to be honest, if this may be the contributing factor I'd snatch it out in a heartbeat.

Keep us posted please.

Of the 3 that I moved to other tank the 1 I cared about the most is looking a very small amount better. Other 2 the same.

On another note , I took gfo offline 4 days ago. Always had 0 phosphates and per some people's suggestions removed it to increase nutrients. 2 days ago it was 0.03. Today 0.10. Should I leave it out or put it back with a reduced amount of media. I also started dosing vibrant a week ago to deal with minor algae control. It supposedly straps some nitrates and phosphates.
