Acans not looking good

I'd say there's something else at play then. You did a blackout on purpose? I'm sorry, my age is showing. [emoji52]

Would u take the gfo offline again and try and bring the po4 up?

I'd pull the gfo, and use a little carbon. There may be something else there too. Don't overfeed just for nutrients sake. Let the level rise a bit on its own. The only time I use gfo is when I've got silicate present.

I just don't know if it was coincidence that when I stopped the GFO this all took place. Doesn't make any sense, you'd think it would be the other way around. All my other lps and a lot of zoas are very happy.

Then it's something exclusive to those certain corals. Try the dip yet?

Haven't dipped yet but did feed the one in the first picture. Ate 2 pieces mysis and a few oyster eggs. The bottom one ate a few mysis as well. Got a couple others to eat but they all look bad. Will most likely dip tomorrow.

My acans love the light. Sounds like your battling algae issue and aside from a black out thinking you may also be running lights much lower or less duration. Is this true?

I switched to a total of 2 hours ramp up and 2 hours ramp down with 4 hours continuous. Switched schedule before a few of the acans even got in there. A few months ago. Sps is doing fine.

Mine didn't like the kessil's intensity being high. So I raised the light and lowered the intensity a little. They're very fleshy now. [emoji41]

I have to be honest, I'd move them down or over to a shady looking spot sometime soon. [emoji1611]

what type of carbon do you use and did you change around the same time this happened?

Maybe light and lack of nutrients (PO4) shock after the blackout? That would account for the loss of the plate coral as well. What exactly happened with it? What did it look like?

I wouldn't count out a pest being the culprit. Maybe check for nocturnal pests with a flashlight after night has set in.

Tough problem.

I personally have no problem adding PO4 to my system in the form of NeoPhos from Brightwell Aquatics (when PO4 becomes undetectable). You can also use food grade tri-sodium phosphate (Na3PO4) which you can order online.

So today I took 3 of my acans out of my main tank, dipped, and placed in my smaller tank to see what happens. One of them I'm pretty sure is dead and has been. Nothing came off them except a couple tiny copepods and a very tiny snail.
I also took the gfo reactor out and will be closely monitoring the po4.
Don't think. They will recover but u never know.

Since I think thoughts and prayers are kind of bunk nowadays, I'll say I'm wishing you luck!

i had a similar problem very recently, i thought it was my po4, it looks like it was my carbon. i was running rox 0.8 in a reactor for the last several months, my acans used to look good but then closed up simliar to yours and never opened again, once i replaced rox 0.8 with triton carbon (less aggressive) , my acans have slowly begun to get plump
