I did the UQ live sale and picked up 3 Acros. Acclimated as UQ said including the dip right as they arrived.

All 3 looked normal at lights out at 9pm. I checked them at noon today (lights out still) and the green one on the far left was completley white. I moved from the frag rack to the sand bed and it looks like just a skeleton now. I dont even seen any polyps or flesh.

The other 2 Acros look fine with polyp some slight polyp extension. Lights dont come on for another hour or so. Everything else on in my shipment looks ok.

What should I be checking for or what are your thoughts on what happened? I have a Lagoom 25 with a Kessil A360we.

Ohhhh I hate when that happens and my frags on either side of the affected piece look great!!! Not sure what causes it but I can’t think of changing anything parameter wise since the rest look great??? Hopefully that’s the only one that goes bad for you.

I know its Rapid but it spreads that fast?
well we wake up and it feels like an instant but we go to sleep for 8 hours gove or take a few and its still a long time. Unfortunate that this happened :(

Well I feel better knowing it's beyond my control. I know something was up as it didn't have as much PE as the other two all yesterday.

I was really excited for it too since it was a vibrant green. Here is a picture of it from the live sale.

Happens to the best of us :/

I’ve had so many coral just die on me, all while my tank is in stable condition with so many corals thriving. I wouldn’t question your husbandry or water parameters (assuming they’re in safe range). It just happens sometimes...

It has happened to me with some high dollar frags and it really leaves a scar. I think alot of the times they frag and take a pic ,sale just to make a profit instead of letting the cutting heal and start to grow on frag plug before selling. Then shipping just adds more stress to it.

Ouch.. this one cost $12 and it stings already. The Birdnest looks like one of the tips has gotten worse since yesterday. If that is true should I just cut the tip off to keep it from spreading?

Alk or temp are some of the biggest causes. I always check Alk of the shippers bags before I acclimate. That way I know how fast or slow I should go. If there is a huge difference this is likely the cause.

I also noticed you have a kessil. I had on in the past and would loose frags randomly. Unlikely the sole cause, but can for sure add to the equation. They seem to punch light through the water column which can add stress to an already stressed coral from shipping, and might just be enough to RTN. Always start with them on the sand bed to acclimate to light. How high is your intensity? What is your ALK?

Sorry you had this happen! Luckily it’s not $100 pieces like a lot of us have had happen :(

I just tested my Alk and it is about 8 dkh with a Red Sea Reef foundation kit.

My kessil is 11.5" above the water line. That Acro was half way down the tank on the front side frag rack. Not directly under the kessil since the rack isn't that wide.

I have to set to 40% 4pm and ramps up to 60% for 3 hours and then back down to 40% before lights out at 930pm. The last 2 hours are actinic spectrum.

I keep my kessil higher to help with shadowing which is why I keep the intensity a little higher. Kessil and others recommend 8" off the water line but I wasn't getting any coverage on the edges.

Is that a whitish Acro in the center?

Your tank is shallow, I would consider turning down the intensity.

Happens to the best of us, often for no known reason.

I doubt it had anything to do with your light, it wasn’t in your tank long enough. Your lights look like they are set a little on the white side though. Most corals are going to be grown under more blue light for color.

The acro that turned white is on the bottom left corner of the tank in the sand bed. On the front side.

Thank you for that. I wasn't sure on which spectrum to keep it at. My kessil goes from 10k being 0% to 20k being 100% color on the controller. Should I keep them at like 15k which I believe is 50% color?
