It has happened to me with some high dollar frags and it really leaves a scar. I think alot of the times they frag and take a pic ,sale just to make a profit instead of letting the cutting heal and start to grow on frag plug before selling. Then shipping just adds more stress to it.
If you look at the frag plug and base of the frag it appears that it was in a tank for a while.

Right, I am referring to your colony in the middle.

That colony is like purple and green. This is the one.

Thank you for that. I wasn't sure on which spectrum to keep it at. My kessil goes from 10k being 0% to 20k being 100% color on the controller. Should I keep them at like 15k which I believe is 50% color?

Corals are going to do better with higher spectrum, but beyond that, it’s somewhat a matter of personal preference. I’d shoot for 14K-20K, depending on what you like.

I got a few sticks from that sale. They got beat up in the ups shipping pretty bad. I've had them for 4 days. Two fell out of the protective cups, and one even was broke off the plug. Two are bleached almost white w/ tip damage, one is slowly losing it's skin, but has held the last 2 days. The company has a great reputation and will make it right with you. My example of a $180 frag from what I bought to just before it's dip. I'm still sad.

Nice, It looks very white which could point towards a light intensity issue. Any closer topdown photos of that coral?

It's more pinkish. Here's a picture of it. I had to play with the white balance a little.

Hard to tell without full whites. Was probably shipping stress, possibly temp fluctuation. I still wouldn’t rule out the light intensity putting the nail in the coffin after shipping stress. If you do some searching you will see some threads about kessils and bleaching, but you will also see beautiful tanks with them. Good luck!

That leather wasn't purchased in the live sale if your referring to that. But the others, yes I cant rule anything out.

As someone suggested, I lowered the intensity some and am playing with the spectrum. I had it backwards. 20k is actually 0% color on the controller. 10k would be 100%. My math sucks so 13k-15k would 50%-70% color, I think? Haha.

Oh man that's terrible to hear. Mine Acros stayed in the couple and looked decent. Very sorry to hear, that is one beautiful piece. I guess I got lucky if I only lost $12.

No my point was not that you purchase it in the live sale, rather it appeared white in the photos. Stressed corals expel their zooxanthellae, thus appear white. Not sure If this is the case with softies...

Ahh sorry I see what you're saying. So the Acro that turned white I Turkey basted it as it was expelling brown stuff which was probably zooxanthellea. It was very faint by that point it was 99% white.

Correct me if I'm wrong since I seen a video on this. When the corals turn more brown the corals are allowing more Zooxanthelea into their flesh because the lack or light. And if they look more pale it's to much light so they expel Zooxanthelea?

Not really an expert on it but that’s kind of the basic idea. It’s not just in response to light though, they will expel zooxanthellae in response to any acute stressors that they can’t handle. Our reefs are bleaching in response to temp and ocean acidification. Check out the documentary “Chasing Coral”, it’s my favorite doc! I have been keeping tanks for around 10 years and have seen many many cases of bleaching livestock in response to light. Sometimes you will see a white anemone that is being blasted with light. That’s not a Casper nem, although some may sell it as. Lol

Just seen the trailer, didn't know that doc existed. I'll definitely watch it this week.

Thank you for the tip, I just got finished adjusting the kessil intensity and spectrum. I'm hoping for the best. I'd hate to to loose something else.

I'm especially keeping an eye on this guy. Had also had some very minor tissue loss but not sure if it's getting better so I'll be taking photos of it daily to see if it changes. You can see the tissue receding on the branch in the center.

Now, if it keeps receding what should I do?

I always clip a frag off the tip with enough good tissue clearance from the necrosis, but that is still a hit or miss. You might want to retest all parameters? What test kits are you using? What media are you running ?

I'm using Api test kit for the standard tests and Red Sea For Cal, all and Mag.

I only use BRS activated carbon in a sock for media.

Check your salinity, temp, and alk. Do any of these swing? Still most likely shipping related, but those corals are usually hardy so idk...

I've been trying hard to not let the salinity swing so lately I top off before bed and right before work. I usually keep it at 1.024. Temp is ay 76deg. Alk us right around at 8 dkh but I need to get in the habit of check my Alk more often.

I'll update with parameters tomorrow evening.

How did you acclimate and were they introduced under bright light?
Acclimation is extremely important and under dim/blue lights lower 3rd to mid tank safest level to begin with then bring them up slowly
