I have three at the moment which had ok color to start and have since become brown encrusting mats. What's the chance they're going to get any color back or is it more likely they'll stay brown? I grew one nub from a half inch piece to almost 4 inches across and it's just encrusting... Thinking about hacking it out.

I love threads like this!!! I've had a few of these, but none now. I just wanted to give this a bump for more people to enjoy.

Does any one know who is selling or carrying spathulatas right now? Looking to get a few cool frags for the new tank! Any help sourcing one would be appreciated!

Uniquecorals.com also has them from time to time. I picked up two, but they were mostly brown polyp, blue or green body. I didn't see any at the moment though. At this point the two I had just encrusted endlessly smothering my prime real-estate with your typical brown spath... I'll give them another year to grow up, or I'll hack them out. Just goes to show me that not building removable plug into the rock work was my biggest regret.

This thread is awesome!

how does one readily differentiate between acro Millie and acro spath?

It's mostly size, but the radial corallites of spaths have a more pronounced lip to them. Branches are more even on spaths than millis. Think of it this way, spaths are cigars and milli's are cigarettes.
