Adding a frag tank

I just recently did this with my 120 reef. Added the BRS sps frag kit next to my tank and drains into my emerald 34. All ran off an ehiem compact 5000 until I upgrade to something bigger does the job just fine though!

That kit from BRS is what I wanted to buy but they don't carry it anymore. I really like the look of your setup!

Well I got it up and running tonight. It took some tinkering to get it to run silent but I was able to do so. I'm very glad I put a ball valve on the return side. I made a frag rack out of black egg crate and it turned out nicely. I decided to try Jebao pumps and am glad I did because of the price and because they are silent as well. Overall I'm very happy with the way this turned out. UPS lost my LED lights from SB Reef Lights but luckily they located them and I will have 2 16" basics to install on Wednesday. Tomorrow I'm adding my DIY BRS screen top as I am going to add a few fish to this tank, I also have to clean up the wiring as well. What do you guys think so far?

If you get some clear PVC Cleaner/Primer and use a cloth rag, like a wash cloth, you can get the printed lettering, bar code and some of the purple primer off of your PVC. I would also encourage all that read this not to use purple primer when putting white PVC together for your visible tank plumbing. Clear primer/cleaner works the same and has a much cleaner look.

Your right. Most people put way too much glue and or primer, and it turns out looking like crap. I have been glueing pvc and or cpvc for 30 years, I have never used primer. If your pipe is clean why bother. I have only had two leaks that I can remember, and both were because of water in the line. Fish tanks are very low pressure and are unlikely to leak if you make a complete circle with glue and twist the pipes. I have glued pipes many times with pressures over 100psi and never had leaks. The point is why use all that purple runny crap..

I do think that using primer is a good idea especially for persons that have not done a lot of plumbing work but there is absolutely no reason at all to use purple when clear is available.
