NO offense Ritter, but I would LOVE to see a successful SPS tank lit by 1 watt LEDS. that Animal may be out there, but you would need ALOT of LEDs to be successful.

Compare the lights listed on the OP. to this.

DM-36e - Reef Radiance

12 x 3 watt Bridgelux LEDS for $79. Controllable and all.

all that said, you would likely need 4 of them for the 60 to properly light it. given that cost, why not just go with a pair of the DM132 Pendants..

H[/URL]ere's mine. I don't know if you consider it successful or not. I have no problem growing or coloring sps.

I do agree with you that the OP should take another route than the light they posted.

Ritter, you still using the evolutions? Aren't those 3 watt though?

Yes I'm still using them. These are the older style 1 watters. I've had them on my tank since April 2011.

OH OK. I appreciate it. hope you understand I wasnt calling you out or anything. By chance, how many individual LEDs are on those things? Given that, we may be able to better help calvo choose some new lights.

I understand. I'm agreeing with you that the lights the OP posted won't be enough. 1 watt leds can work but it takes a lot of them. I have 2 fixtures and each has 119 leds in them. 12 1watt leds won't do much unless it's a pico tank. Even 3 watt par38s won't get you very far over a 65 gallon.
