I have been dipping at least once a week since about the first week of December. I haven't seen any new damage/color loss in the last month so I have only dipped them twice in the month, two weeks apart. I'm going to be redoing the rock work in my DT in the next month, so the frags will stay in the qt/frag tank even after they are free and clear of aefw. That being said I am planning on inspecting every frag and dipping at least once more before I can say the aefw is eradicated.

No worries man, and you are right the weekly dippings really are the only way to beat them.

Bumping this thread, purchased some Bayer ok Acme will be 5-6 days for delivery decided to buy melafix from my LFS to have a week head starts and start preparations but didn’t realize it there were different ones will the regular for fresh water work as well since the difference is 1% vs 1.25%? Definitely will follow this regiment of Bayer and melafix.

UWC came out with an in tank treatment for AEFW called Purge. Just fyi in case you didnt know. My buddy used it and it worked.

Flatworms stop (probably same thing that uwc is using) at a double dose with some basting will get rid of them 6+ months in.

Also i still say leaving small colonies like yours in the tank and dipping from there is so much easier. I have seen way to many people in this thread say the only way is a separate qt with fallow period. I think we are way past that now and tons of people have proved it's possible to dip from the tank.

Bayer sucks, melafix or revive is all I use now. I have seen nudis stay alive in Bayer for a lonnggg time.

No it is definitely not the same as flatworm stop.

They are both probably 99.99% a wormwood base. Concentrations and secondary ingredients vary and are different - I have seen both and tasted them.

I disagree, I have seen and used both and they look and smell very different. I already said this but again, the fact that your tasting these products with no ingredient labels is insane to me, please stop lol. I am concerned for your safety.

Even if they both contain wormwood, purge can eliminate aefw in 4 weekly doses where as flatworm stop takes 6 months of daily double dosing + basting and costs way more. Flatworm stop also did not work for me in that manner. Purge did. Not even close imo.

I would bet it's just got a higher ratio of wormwood in each dose. The likely hood that another company found a totally different effective treatment so close together is slim. I would guess that zeovit has tested their fws at higher dosages and found it caused issues when overdosed, probably why their treatment is much more mild. I would guess that uwc is trying to use the same stuff in a different way.

Again this is all a guess. I would love for someone to take a picture of the actual liquid product?

Why are people not trying to play with the dosage and try to dose more often? I would think you would want a steady amount of this stuff in the water at all times..

We were talking about flatworm stop not flatworm exit. Flatworm exit is for red planaria flatworms not aefw. It doesnt work on aefw, at least in doses safe for the rest of the tank. The product my friend and I both used successfully was UWC purge.

They dont look or smell the same, and it wasnt so close together, flatworm stop has been out for a long time. UWC also said it doesnt contain wormwood. They wouldnt say what it contains but said not wormwood and I believe explained why. Obviously you would have to take their word for it but imo they are not similar products.

Is a double dose safe for everything else in the tank? I thought it wasn't.

Here is the quote from UWC:

"We are getting a lot of messages on what the product is. Obviously we are not going to say but I can tell you from testing numerous things, what it is not.

Levamisole- no, not affective unless dosages are high enough that causes serious problems within the tank.
Prohibit - dangerous stuff which also causes issues within the tank.
Wormwood - I’m not sure where all the talk about wormwood being affective came from except some guy on YouTube saying he used it. We tested it, It is useless against AEFW’s.
Praziquantel - could be used as a dip I suppose but would not be affective against AEFW’s unless dosages are sky high.

Most of the chemicals listed above have been tested out by many hobbyists and there are quite a few threads talking about them and you can see why they never became a valid solution.

What I will tell you is this is a blend of things that no one has ever talked about in the reefing world. It took a long time to figure out what worked and what dosages were safe to be used within our reefs "

Thanks jda, yeah not exactly the same. But imo the same. We have been looking for a in tank treatment for decades for aefw. What are the odds that two different companies found two totally different methods of treatment? Also both treatments work in the exact same way, one just a little faster than the other. One takes 1-2 months and the other 4-6 months. Both see a decline in pop and health in coral followed by straggling adults with no eggs.
