AF Zeolites while using a BP Reactor

What are the exact dimensions of the reactor? I tried to find the specs on the deepwater aquatics site but they list the same specs for all 3 reactors. I am assuming they are the specs for the AF90.

Thanks,

Adam

I dosed NP pro and Pro Bio S yesterday for the first time. I didn't cut the dose in half. Should I skip a day and do another full dose or should I just do a half dose today? At what point do I know that I can just go to a full dosing daily regimen?

I sincerely doubt a normal dose will impact much, but I would go under recommendations until you see the impacts. You should see increased PE, and there will be a mini cycle of settling into the system, usually associate by signs of brown dusting on rocks, sand and glass. This is normal, and over a few weeks or so will work itself out. Make sure the skimmer is set to dry and is pulling dark skimm. This should happen within a week or so. This is the bacteria processing laden nutrients.

Should be receiving 12L of Siporax today. Do I have to put it in gradually or all at once is fine since it will take time to colonize anyway? How long does it take to colonize?

I rinsed mine off really well with RODI, actually soaked for a few hours then rinsed really good. It usually takes 6-10 weeks to start working, on average.

I got the zeolites. Am I reading this correctly I need 12L of zeolites as well for a 270 gallon system and need to totally replace every 6 weeks?

No,
I would use maybe 2 liters to start, you can always increase, but no, don't do 12 liters ;) I run 3 cups of Zeo Mix on my 120 gallon SPS reef, to give you an idea.

They can go to work quickly, so make sure and soak them really well in RODI, preferably over night, clean all the dust off by rinsing, then start with the flow on the lower side and test each day for nutrients to find it's impacts. Pay attention to corals :)

What should I start dosing once nutrients begin to get depleted?

Thanks,

Adam

You could start 1/2 dose with Vitality, Energy, Build, and Amino Mix. I would imagine the fish would be pretty happy with an additional feeding too :)

Just placed an order for Vitality, Energy, Build, and Amino Mix plus carbon and phosphate minus! As of now I just have 2L of siporax in a reactor and 1L of zeo mix in a reactor. The rest of the media will be here tomorrow. I may also get my hands on some life bio fil we'll see... Hopefully this experiment will be well worth it because with a tank on the larger side the cost is adding up fairly quickly.

Hi Adam,
The good news is the concentration is pretty strong, so most product that you drop, go the distance :) Let me know how things go, pay close attention to your corals duing the transistion, likely you first see increased PE as a positive sign. Cheers :)

I fit 6 liters of siporax into each GEO reactor. It's quite tight in there. Is there any downside to it being packed in so tightly? I know you said I can leave it in my sump buy I like all medias in reactors. See the picture.

I received everything. Besides AF build everything else says every other day. Do I dose those 3 all on the same day or alternate days? If I am alternating days which go best together to be dosed on the same days? I also switched dosing my NP Pro and Pro Bio S to during the day, up until now I was doing it at night but now that I am going to be dosing ABVE at night I figured better to dose the other stuff during lights on.

Thanks,

Adam

Nice,
That is a lot of siporax, great job, should work really well, give it some time though :) I personally dose NP Pro and Pro Bio S in the am before lights on, and I dose Amino Mix and Vitality on one day, then alternate the opposite days with Energy and Build. This is just my method, if you wanted Build could be dosed daily, I find that every other day with this pairing seems to be the popular trend. Cheers

So far based on visuals everything seems good. I will test N03 and P04 a little later today. If level are too low should I increase my dose of ABVE to a full dos instead of half? I had a red dragon that got some burnt tips but not too bad for a heavily stocked tank. Thanks for all of your help so far Perry! I really appreciate it.

I now have 12L of siporax, 2L of Zeolites, a lot of carbon, a lot of Phosban and a BP reactor going along with an ATS and a Fuge! I am also expecting some Life Bio Fil next week which will also go in it's own reactor. How much Life Bio Fil should I be running? As soon as I see nutrient levels come down the first thing I will do is start removing pellets out of the BP reactor. I am hoping the ATS stops growing algae so I can take that offline. The huge I will keep even if the cheat stops growing. I like it for my pod population. Look at that skimmer cup!
