anyone have them? - i'm thinking about getting some and just curious if there are others out there and how they do in aquarium life.
and no they are not off ebay :)

mine died within a few weeks so make sure there from good source sorry to say mine werent im gessing freshly fraged wild ones. And if you dont mind and they have extra im looking for some to grow ware are you getting them?

I think those "African Blues" Are nothing more than caribbean purple/blue palythoas.
Thats where PPE came from, Thats where Blue angels came from, Thats where my PPRPE came from, and several other big name paly's....

The problem with keeping wild caribbean species alive long term is that they are not tropical species. They are subtropical that live in temperate waters.
The Caribbean sees lows of 70 and highs in the mid 80's through out the year.
A constant 78-80 degrees just stresses wild cuaght palythoa collonies out to much and they croak 50% of the time.

I've seen these coming in a lot lately, and I mean a lot, and 100% of them have been on their way out, probably like 100 colonies a week come into the country, and all of them don't make it...

also, they're definitely from Africa, since they're coming in with shipments of African live rock and other African fish as well

Here's what happened to mine within a week:

There are none left. I paid a lot for them too.

That sucks even the little babies did not make it. Too much glue or unknown cause of death?

i got some last night at a lfs, they had come in more than a week ago, but he says he paid 200 for the rock, probably 150 polyps

i got 1/3 of it, didn't want to pay for more.

they are blue and look similiar to aoi

well i bought 5 polyps last night dipped them, microscoped and then put them in the tank, this morning 3 are open already........ i hope i don't have your experiences with them
organism you said none of them make it whats the issue??? water temp? are they from cooler waters or something - it just seems odd that none would make it
they do look similar to aoi and the blue eyed dragon which are the same thing but since these are from half way around the world and no real current to take them there they have to be at least somewhat dif then the caribbeans

at least they have a garrantee lol so not as much of a risk i wish id waited now lol if they still have in a week or so ill snag some from them to try to grow a hardy strain again.

I'm still hoping to get a credit for the ones I bought... The place is over an hour away though--I really need to get over there.

I have a few colonies that I had for over a month so far and made a few frags and are doing great. Right now they are in high flow and only 12" away from 250watt halides. The frags are growing tiny babies. When I got them I dipped them in TMPCC every day for 5 days because I noticed some polyps did not look good. I am crossing my fingers.

Since they look similar to Carribean Zoas I am thinking these are being collected in the Atlantic on the Western Side of Africa. But I am 100 percent sure the ones I got are from Africa because my supplier is well known and honest.

WOW I'll see what I can do to save them
Thanks

that is exactly what I'm talking about, that's an excellent picture of the fungus that's on their stems, my bet is that they're going to rot out over the next week or so, unfortunately
