The early ones did, all the nero 5s/3s now come with fishguards. A lot of the "FISH MURDER" is people repeating all from like 1-2 incidents. Running a pump like that at 100% when you have a 3/4" fish is asking for trouble. Regardless. Problem is irrelevant now because of the guards. If I didn't have pumps already these would be intriguing.

I liked the ability to angle the Neros to direct flow, but adding the guard completely negates that feature because the powerhead can no longer angle on the magnet. What a waste and poor design. I’ll probably just use a Tunze if I need more specific directional flow now.

For a ~40 I'd go 3.. you can get two for the price of an mp10 and the more random flow the better IMO.

Sure how much shipped? Not kidding. I am pretty sure lots of people will be getting the 3 over the 5 since it’s only half of its foot print but yet pack a bunch of flow.

Well Nero 5 is still a higher output pump. AI and Ecotech are owned by the same company. I feel the Nero line is to the Vortech line what the Hydra/Prime line is to the Radion line. It's a lower price point for a lot of the same features but a little less powerful (radions) or the external mounted motor (Vortechs.). So a nero 5 is like a mp40 and the nero 3 is like a mp10. If people are trying to downsize their pumps or w/e then yeah the price will go down for used. Can't see new dropping.

I still see there will be a slightly price drop on both new and used. Lots of people likes to run a pair of pumps rather than just one. Two Nero 3 on a mixed reef for let say a 50-70g is more than enough. Which that being more options open, people will lean toward to the 3 thus there are more availability to the 5s.

bottom line, more options mostly lower in prices.

I was still able to angle the pump with the fish guard in place. You have to make sure to clip them on all the way. If you do not install them correctly, it could prevent tilting... they clip to the back of the pump head... make sure the magnet is not between the fish guard and the pump.

I swapped to MP40 for the premade modes and to have everything in Mobius. You can program most of the modes manually, but it is nice to just set it and be done.
