I tried that but the option to clear cache is grayed out on my device, so I kind of gave up on it.

It allows you to enable scheduling. But you can’t edit the schedule right

I can edit the schedule. I can't do a live demo or manually turn the lights on, off, or to 50%. It's extremely strange.

Update: got a friend with an up to date iPhone (I tried using an old ipad) and it connected. Everything works normally from the iPhone. The issue must be with android BLE or the android version of the app. Any suggestions?

I would have them set your schedule the way you want it till you can get your phone sorted out. IMO that’s the issue my guy. Now you know it’s not the device.

I cannot check for updates. It says something about a bluetooth timeout when I try.

I have one that gives me the same error code when I try to update it. To fix it you will need to send it in to get fixed.

I know I have been having small issue with all mine that are hooked up since I added an axis pump

I don't have any AI pumps or powerheads. Just the one light.
