Just curious what settings people are using and their intensities of each color. Height above water as well.

Bump,, i would like to see that too,, also some pictures of vegas running a tank.. I love these fixtures and will getting some here soon... I hope.. Lol

I have a 60 cube with one unit abut 12 in fwl white 40,red 45 green 50 ,blue 75 and other blues 70 and its a mixed reef everything seems do well ive been going up on whites 5% every other week last month

Mine are about 12" from water line. I have whites at 60%, all blues at 85%, reds at 50% and greens at 60% for my mixed reef. Everything does well at those settings.

The main reason I started this thread is because I have great growth but not good color. My tank is 70% SPS and 30% LPS. All of my parameters are fine. (I have been in the hobby for 12 years and I have been testing regularly for the past six months to ensure light was the only variable. Bioload has remained the same as well. The Tank is 18 months matured.) I have four over a standard 180 gallon. They are 12 inchs above the water. My intensities are white at 30%, Red and Green at 15%, Blues at 60%. I run the "Fiji Island" setting with a 4 hour ramp time. I have had them for about a year now and it took me that long to get to these intensities. I have played with the white percentages a little and moving them up to 40% or higher seems to cook my SPS with little affect to my LPS. As I search other forums as well there is no concrete follow up after the initial thread. AI has been no help either. I thought they would have a feedback database or their on experience. I am I totally missing something with this fixture? I have even considered buying a PAR meter, but would like to wait on them to become a little more accurate. The one thing I have been able to gather is that it seems on most people's tanks are ran with the Blue at it's max percentage, then the white 50% less of the Blue, Red/Green 50% less than the White.

Connie,
Your percentage blow my mind after my experiences. If I ran those settings, in 48 hours my tank would be cooked. How are you able to get your percentages high? Can you give us a little more info on your Tank and how long it has been in operation, etc.... Really not picking on you!! Just want this thread to gather as much info about AI Vega as we can. You also were the first to respond!

I have had the vegas for over a year now. It took me several months to get the percentages to where they are now. On factor that might allow me to have mine at such high percentages is my glass cover. I clean it every other week and I'm sure that significantly cuts down on the light getting through.

I have a Vega on my 12g and recently checked with our clubs par meter. I have the numbers at my office will try and remember to post them tomorrow. My tank is 9" deep the lights are 25" up from the sandbed. I do know at 25% r b g and 35% all blues it read 130 par right above the water line which is 16" down and 70 9" lower at the sand.

Ok here you go hope it is helpful!

The percentages I bumped up at 10% and checked each time. Again my light is 25" above the sand and tank is a 9" deep nano.

Red blue green and white

Par 220 right at water line
Par was 120 dropped into the water 9" lower at the sand bed.

Whixley, when you say you played with the intensity of the whites how much would you change it each time? I had the same issue with my sps so i ended up dropping the white down to 40% and over the last several months raised it 2% per week till I got up to 60%. I bought an ORO purple stylo in Aug and it's been doing very well compared to anything i previously had.

James,

I lower or raise any intensities no more than 3% every two weeks.

I really want this thread the be an "information hub" for AI Vega. I would love as much feedback as possible for myself and the R2R Community.

Here are my settings on my Vegas.
All 3 blues: 95%
Green: 25%
Red: 15%
Whites 45%
Sunrise 10:10am
Sunset: 9:00pm
Ramp time 1:30
Favor:Blues

Have had the lights since they were released. Tank is a 120g with mixed reef (clams, lps, sps) Colors are fantastic. I believe I started my whites out at 35% originally and all the blues were around 65%-75% I gradually increased the levels 3-4% a week until this point. I have been happy with the results so I have not increased my whites any higher but may bump them up after I return to town next week. I know you have seen my tank (although not recently, but you can feel free to come over anytime Whixley. Hopefully this will help to inform some other Vega owners on what works well.
