Hi all,
this is it. I tried almost everything. This little will go in today. Aipstasias are out of control. I tried the classics: Aiptasia X (when I had a couple) Peppermint shrimps, nothing at all.
The Copperband then. The ******* died after 2 weeks without eating a single one. At 100$ a piece (this is Canada here, everything is friggin' expensive) The filefish. Another waste. He eats everything but this. The Berghias? I guess they got eaten by the wrasse.
So now, it's time for serious shi*. I will loose corals, yeah , I guess. But I'm ready for that. Don't ask me to get the rocks out of the tank and remove them, there is no way I am dismantling that tank. The LPS will go to the acclimation box and later to another display I am setting up.

Auriga butterflies are hardy and they eat Aipstasias. I have enough supply for a while, we are talking about thousands and thousands of them in the 140g reef tank.

Wish me good luck...

I used Peppermint shrimp and that worked. But I onl7y had 3 that I could see lol.

That is a cool looking fish.

Good Luck

When that doesn't work try Aiptasia eating filefish. I've used them on multiple tanks and they DEVOUR aiptasia. Please note, filefish are shy and eat at night, so don't expect immediate results. In my case in both current tanks, it took 10-14 days before aiptasia literally vanished.

subbed, want to see how the Auriga butterfly work out for the issue.

I heard they eat corals, how true is that, and what type of corals do they eat?

Yeah, I know about Peppermint shrimp and tried already. At this moment I had a 7 inches Emperor angelfish... I believe he had a taste for shrimps, they disapeared overnite... Yeah it's a nice little fish, he is now in the tank... so far nothing bad happened.

Well, I have a filefish in there for 2 weeks now. I haven't seen him touching any aipstasia so far. It seems I'm not super lucky. At night he is standing in a corner and ''sleeps''... Tha's why I'm going whit the Auriga now. He does already nip at the aipstasia... and corals too. But at this point, I don't care.

Yep they are polyps eater. I would never I've tried it before but now it seems like it's the ultimate solution. If that does not work it's a tank tear down coming.

I put my Raccoon in my 40. He was a MONSTER! All gone in days! This may happen way quicker than you think! He will pick at anything, saw him pick at my green slimer. so it is not just softies... But if your willing to take a hit, they are miracle workers!

I was looking for a Raccoon but could'nt find any. That was really my first choice. But the Auriga is very nice too. I can't tell yet if he is going to wipe them out but hopes are high! What did you do once the aipstasias were gone, you kept him?

Peppermint shrimp from reefcleaners always worked for me.

But yes if you have a shrimp eating fish then they won't last long!

Aiptasia x is snake oil as far as I'm concerned. All it ever did for me was make them multiply faster.

Best of luck with the butterfly

Aiptasia x sucks. I’m trying lemon juice at the moment with a 20gauge needle. If that doesn’t work I’m getting sodium hydroxide. I can’t use nudi’s because I have a wrasse. I’m waiting for a Copperband to show up. I want one anyways so if it doesn’t eat it I won’t be out much.
