aiptasia Infestation

Peppermint shrimp or nudibranch depending on fish stock.
I have a Midas blenny, 2 clowns, firefin goby, royal gramma, a BTA and an Lta. An assortment of snails. And a variety of beginner corals.
which would be best for this tank?
What is the usual price range for the shrimp and nudibranch?
Could the shrimp and nudibranch live together?

You could go with either one. The peppermint are cheaper at around ~$8 the nudi run around ~$12 each. Some report shrimp going after coral particular LPS. I wouldn't put both together as the peppermint will likely eat the nudi.

I have a 20gallon and have used both. I had more success with the shrimp. Pic of my infestation below. I had all kinds of issues with my tank the first year and Aiptasia is not the worst. You can see current pic on my build thread.

I keep a small tank with Berghia Nudibranch in it here for breeding. If I find Aiptasia on a small rock or frag I just put it in there for a day or two and they clean it up for me. Peppermint shrimp also work but not as well as the nudibranch do.
Berghia solved my aiptasia problem and I wished now that I had placed some aiptasia in a small 10 gallon tank that I had and encouraged them to increase to feed my berghia. Want to send me some aiptasia?? :-)

I want to do peppermint shrimp but I have to quarantine them sigh…..

I bought kalkwasser on Amazon and used the $10 coupon for $4 total 500g of Kalk. I’m going to try this method and hit them HARD
I wouldn’t worry about QT’ing Peppermint shrimp. How long did it take to overtake?

That’s an infestation alright ..

It took a month and half for them to show up. Clearly the file fish was keeping them at bay I never had them. But now I see them everywhere . The kalkwasser works though but you need to make it a paste. I don’t want to risk contamination with ich so they would need to be QT

I’ve never QT shrimp or crabs. I just observe for a bit and hit them with the Turkey baster a few times. Obviously, your tank your choice. But that ingestion is just going to keep getting worse

Well the rock that had the aiptasia 2 days ago they didn’t come back.

Yes I think aiptasia if left unmanaged will become everywhere. I can tell because I see baby ones growing in places never seen them.

like I mentioned my file fish is a beast . He will go to work soon … waiting on this fallow to be over

Infestation *** lol
Filefish should eat the small ones. Good Luck! I’ve heard of a new product coming out soon, don’t know how good it works but looks promising. It’s called Reef Delete

I read on it. Sounds good but aiptasia will still lay off it’s spawn prior to dying.

if there's nothing near it, blast it in the open mouth with an eyedropper of scorching hot water. I've got a 75-100% success rate on that method... I'm not sure if I missed one or he closed up in time.
