Seriously though usually nothing is CHEAP in the hobby but for $20 on Amazon , a way to increase pH, and alkalinity I might have a solution.

I am pretty sure that Aiptasia X is just glorified kalk paste! I don't know why, but that always made me mad. lol.

The only thing -- aside from nudibranchs -- that worked for me was @Tamberav's method of injecting boiling water into the oral discs.

Wrasses aren't the only things that eat nudibranchs: I dumped more than ten of them in in my wrasseless IM40, and yet they all disappeared within a day or two. I suspect my quiet, secretive pygmy geometric hawkfish for those losses.

I have some torches and inverts In there . I seen the spike of dkh 8.1 to 8.75

Today the aiptasia didn’t come back!! But I have to wait until dkh drops to hit the rest ! This method is solid

i can relate to the excitement but i would wait a couple of weeks before i'd consider the battle won. i've used kalk a few times for aiptasia and it definitely isn't a 100% success rate and worst yet, if you didn't get them all they come back with reinforcements.

If I do get a file fish or something else, do I QT them or just add to the tank?

How does a Copperband Butterflyfish do with apstatia and QT? I would prefer to get one of these although I have heard they can be tough to take care of.

during fallow period my tank exploded with aiptasia literally 40-50 everywhere .

Once the quarantine was over i placed my aiptasia file fish in there. I don’t have a single one visible

there are caveats to adding a filefish, copperband butterfly or even peppermint shrimp. if you have lps corals in the system they're all at risk with any of these creatures and there's a good chance that they totally ignore the biggest aiptasia if they touch any at all.
after not finding success at first with aiptasia x i am fully confident now that it works. it just may take reapplication over a month to make certain the main aiptasia dies and its followers go with it.

I used aiptasia x on any I could see and added a peppermint shrimp. My aiptasia was eradicated but I didn't have much and attacked it early on. Also had to remove pepperment shrimp after aiptasia was gone because they are jerks and will eat everything they can tear up and eat.

I have used Berghia nudibranchs twice over the years. And I had ALOT of aiptasia. Total eradication both time.

I'm going to repeat the oft-told warning for "aiptasia-eating" matted filefish: caveat emptor. With the emphasis on "eat" and "everything LPS in your tank".

I am beginning to think that deploying aptasia x is a losing strategy. By the time you identify the first aptasia there will be others in their nascent stage that aren’t visible yet. Making the tank rounds daily with the aptasia x syringe works, but only if part of an unwavering and aggressive maintenance schedule.

Biological control is your best bet. Buying berghia is a sure fire way to slay the beast. Once the problem is under control, sell ‘em back to your LFS.

Apstatia x is not an option, I'm not going to hit each one individually forever, I do have other things in life, if it were one or 2 ya that would be something I would use, but there's too many and too big for me to live inside my aquarium for days on end. Which is why I'm asking about fish doing the removal.

I'm currently in fallow period as my Fish are in quarantine process. I've noticed a dozen aiptasia maybe more start to grow everywhere in my tank! I assume this is because my aiptasia File fish is now longer there! Have you guys used anything to keep the numbers down? I would hate to have this manifest into a garden of aiptasia betime fallow is over. Of course i cant just drop in neudibranch's as they need to quarantine 30 days too. Let me know what you guys think.

Yes if I were going for some animal to do the work this is what I have used with the best success, I had a great cbb for years originally for aptaisia. He did a great job with them plus its a beautiful fish!

I've done the peppermint shrimp and will NEVER again! I had to tear a whole tank down to rid them, they ate mushrooms and acans and picked at everything else, I could see the fluorescent colors of the mushrooms in their body. I would not have them in a reef tank...

Best to get them aptaisias first by hand and not let them multiply, I have had 2 come in on frags in my new system and nuked them in QT id never let them in my tank and would tear rock out to get to them instead of letting them go then thinking about what to do after they are everywhere...don't forget to check your overflows and pipes good luck..
