It was unnoticed because of where it was, inside the overflow. I had no idea it was even in there. I had a pod population in there I could see from underneath, but lately, I hadn't seen any moving around. Now I know why...

My lfs has one that could quite easily eat a small bird. I'll try to snap a pic when I'm there next, but it's disk is massive, like 3"+ across. There's a "small" one next to it that's easily as large as the OP's. She keeps it because of its novelty. There's a filefish in with it that takes care of any offspring.

I'll post it in a new thread since I don't know if I'll be going there in the next day or two.

Just like that trout I caught last fall, I remember it being bigger. It's still a monster though, around 2-1/4" to 2-1/2" across! The one to the left is bigger than any I've had.

Sorry, I waited forever for a fish, anything, to come by for a scale reference, but no takers

The only LFS near me has a nice tank full of those. I bet they've sold a few.

I guarantee it. I personally was excited about my first "coral" covered rock I bought. It had 3 little mushrooms and some other cool polyps. The polyps turned out to be mojanos, and aptasia. But he sold it to me with a smile on his face.

Definitely Aiptasia. But I would not mess with it. It will not reproduce where it is cause it is happy. You try to kill it and it will send out hundreds of planulae larvae which will settle out in your display and you would begin to see them popping up everywhere in 3-6 weeks. He's big cause he's happy. Don't tick him off that's when the real problems start.

I drained the tank and left him in the overflow. I drained that water into a bucket and sent it down the drain. Whether he was in there or his larvae were, they are now resting in my septic tank.....lololol ;)
