----Aiptasia-----

What is the best method for naturally getting rid of them?? I've tried filefish but went after acans instead of aiptasia.....copperbands?? Peppermint shrimp? Anything else? I think I'm going to try a copperband or a ton of peppermint shrimp next

If you live in Minnesota. I will let you borrow my copperband fish. My tank used to have alots of aptasias, then i put one copperband in my tank. He ate all of them. Doesnt matter how big or small of aptasias. He ate it All. Laser will work if you dont have much aptasias.

I live in Md but I would drive there as this is so frustrating!!! Lol thanks for the offer. I will pick up a copperband and hope for the best.

Np:). Good luck. Cant wait to for see your problem solve.
Thanks. I wish I could grow coral like I can Aiptasia. Lol
I completely took down a tank and started over because of them and I refuse to do that again. I'm off to buy a copperband now. Just called around and there is a place an hr away that has one

I have a 2000mw lazer that i bought from http://www.lazerpoint.com/ (ships from china but arrives very fast -- at least to california).

Few things to note:

1) it is not a toy... even reflection off the glass can burn you. You DEFINITELY want eye protection.
2) it DOES melt the parts of the aiptasia that you can see
3) it DOES NOT get everything -- aiptasia root themselves sometimes quite deep into the rockwork. For these, they will just come back... and be very ticked off doing so (e.g. spread even more)

I switched to berghia nudibranches and that took care of my problem -- and i had a TON of aiptasia.

I had a small outbreak recently in my 65 I bought 3 peps and within 2 days I saw one of them eating the aiptasia haven't seen any since fingers crossed

There are other versions on utube besides lasers. Electrical versions I should say. Burns them up in the water. Never had a huge infestation like that, but have friends that used the electrical version that worked well for them. For the occasional one that I get, I still use aptasia x. The trick to using it is no flow, and very slowly feed them. Not just squirting it into the center.

Copperband fish will be 100% will take care of it. Good luck

Apparently the CBB I put in my tank didn't get the memo! It has no interest in the aiptasia. I'm going to try the berghias next.

Lol, had the same issue. None of the CBb's over the years have ever touched aptasia. Probably my fault though as I have a tendency to over feed.

Matted Filefish aka aiptasia eater.
Cleaned my tank out in a week. I feed him well but the dingy fish keeps getting into the super glue when I glue frags:rolleyes:

I've heard great things also but every time I try one it goes after my acans or brain corals!!

I feed him twice a day with mysis and my own food blend and yes super glue. He look like pegasus right now with a super glue horn. He is my favorite fish I have no issue with him nipping.
