Aiptasia

I dont want anything thats going to eat my corals i dont think. I was all sps but its now mostly softies and clams and the like. I thinking of curing some rock that has been dried out for 6 months or more BUT my question is: If i still have them in the sump will they be pumped back up into my display and infect the newly cured rock? The pump is a mag and has a cover over the intake.

The tank is bare bottom so i could take everything out of the tank up top except for my clown and bleach it then put it back in. Im talking like about powerheads and things of that nature, nothing live.

I have used Joes Juice,it works well, but you can't get to all of them, so they multiply. Is an ongoing effort to keep them at bay!Normally done at water changes, every two to three weeks. It is best to use it when pumps and such are off,so the current won't carry it away.Good luck

If they are in your sump, they WILL make it back to your display. I have seen tiny ones free floating in my display tank and quickly grabbed a net to get it out. Unless you have a sponge on the intake of the reutrn.

I found a deal on Liveaquaria, and got 10 Peppermint shrimp shipped for $60 I think. I figured since they are hit or miss, the more that I had, the better chance I have at finding one that chomps on Aiptasia. Lo and behold, a month later and I nearly aiptasia free.

If you have the means to support them, I say check out Liveaquaria and order as many pepps as you can handle. I believe it was in the section where you can Build Your Own Cleaning Crew... or something to that effect.

Jared, what size were the ones you got in. It seems that most of the people I see having success with them have larger ones. I got 3 small ones and I am pretty sure my yellow coris ate them. I will most likely get a bunch if the aiptasia get out of control again.

It was mixed, but I did get a couple of monsters. I have not seen them during the day since I added them, but I am pretty sure my Sixline probably had one or two for dinner. I caught a glimpse of a molting the other day, and the antennae of one from under a rock, so I know I have at least one left. They did a great job at snagging the aiptasia, even eating the ones on some of my zoa frags.
