Aiptasia

Can you show me what this device looks like ? I have unfortunately been battling some very difficult to reach aiptasia and this sounds like something I would be very interested in
OK--- I found the original video on the DIY aiptaisia killer.

On youtube, search for ' "Aiptasia killer" + "Cesar Maldonado" '.

Hope that helps.

I love these guys. They do the trick as aiptasia is their source of survival and food. The problem is when they wipe out the aiptasia and you don't have a place to rehome them with aiptasia as well. Then they whither away and die.
Glad to see someone is breeding them. They are worth the average cost!

If a few, keep it simple.
Using syringe, inject either lemon juice or better yet. . kalkwasser powder mixed with tank water into a paste the consistency of toothpaste and inject into the very center core and it will melt away
cant justify buying nudibranch, file, etc then be faced with what to feed them to keep them alive when the issue is gone

I'm hoping I'll be able to potentially identify if they've multiplied in my tank and pass them on to local reefers but they have all but disappeared since adding them to the tank.

I use white vinegar. I inject it into his mouth, just a couple of ml.
I don't kill more than 4 or 5 at a time.
You will see that it begins to melt, they never came out in the same place again. When they are very large I had to repeat the dosage a couple of times. At night the pepper shrimp, if you have them, and the microfauna finish the job.

Wait...
One aptasia? Can you take the rock out of the water? This is best to kill outside of tank with lemon juice, rinse with tank water outside the tank. Squirt it again for good measure and place back in tank.

There are NO guarantees that that covering it in kalkpaste, F-Aptaisia, Aptaisia X, lemon juice, Etc. will not promote it to spread all over your tank. This is why it's best to do it outside the tank, especially if you only have one aptaisia.
For every one person that says it helped and killed him I could probably show you one that just made it spread all over the tank.
Thanks
I hadn’t even thought about removing the rock.
Yes, I can do that
I remember the first time I had aptaisia I cut and scraped them off and ended up with them exploding all over my tank, lol
I learned the hard way what not to do
It’s crazy how this one lone aptaisia suddenly appeared out of nowhere after not having any for years. I wonder if something triggers them to start growing and they remain dormant until then ‍♀️

when you and others say "inject" are you spraying up close with a pipette? or injecting with a needle and syringe. I am going to try the later, with a tuberculin, but wanted to make sure it is hunky dorry with the biosafety committee (smile)

I get as close as I can with a pipette to the mouth and start spraying with a kind of stabbing move. But I don't have a needle. I am not sure that this is the best method because they do come up elsewhere.

I recently added some Peppermint shrimp, and they seem to do the trick.
