Algae & Lighting

Looking at APEX, PH is on the low side, nitrate and phos look to be climbing (although within norms - but should be watched), Alk looks to be dropping.
Describe this algae.... is it slimy? If it is like snot, then it could be a version of cyano. Do you have any bubbles?
There are a couple ways that you can go.... emeralds are good CUC. You can try going dark for about 4 days and see if that wipes it out. What do you have in the fuge? Anything macro? Maybe introduce something to outcompete??
There are chemicals like chemiclean. I'd go there last.

going DARK 4 days will that kill the corals - how about the fish

1 gem tang
1 kole tang
1 blue tang
2 purple tangs
1 flame angle
6 clownfish
1 long nose butterfly
4 wrasse
5 goby's
1 Flame Hawkfish
2 Anthias
2 Scooter Blenny
2 cleanup shrimp
1 Red Fire Shrimp
----
snails 5

Fish will be fine.
If it is blue green cyano... you can jump to chemiclean. The main difference in the chemiclean offerings is the size of the spoon. (basically, a bigger spoon, less scoops for a large tank). It is VERY important if you do this that you add a bubbler to the DT while it is being treated.
Now, I am saying IF because you did say that it is slimy and it has bubbles. In my experience, snot with bubbles looks a lot like cyano but could be dinoflagellates. Dinos have many many treatments and it is very hard to eradicate. One such method is the 4 day blackout, followed by hydrogen peroxide dosing. There are literally hundreds of postings related to the topic. Dino tends to look more brown but we need to remember that dinos are what causes red tide - which is not always red. Dinos actually can have blue green bioluminescence. Not to say that yours glows in the dark, just that it is not outside the realm of possibility.
Do you have a microscope handy? That would tell you for sure if it is dino.
Otherwise, treat for cyano first and then if that does not work... go blackout and begin dino protocols.

thank you so much, going to clean the tank and turn the lights off for 4 days i hope nothing will happen to my corals.

not sure i think it's coralline algae not cyano

The dinos we reefers usually combat thrive in nutrient poor environments so we have to add nitrate and phosphate to eradicate (been there, done that... TWICE!). If it is cyano, Chemiclean will wipe out. If it is dinos, Chemiclean will reduce it then it will come roaring back within days. A blackout will fool you on both cyano and dinos before they come roaring back. I've never had nor ever known anyone (personally) who got much success from blackouts.

Blackout worked for me.
I feel like I had tried everything else.... I misdiagnosed as cyano for months and yes.... it comes roaring back.
There are so many dino remedies out there, it's trial and error until you get through it. I think we need a R2R badge for dino survivors... adding UV to the new build. I do not want to go there again.

they have different type of Chemiclean - any idea which one i should get?

The Blue 2g.....but imo hold out longer. It will clear out cyano but mess with your system in terms of skimming....I still haven't got mine dialed in after dosing 4 months ago, and lots of water change. I wish I held out longer myself....

Another thing you can try. Take a sample of the algae. Put in an ice cube tray with Rodi. Freeze overnight, defrost...if when you play with it a bit its pink? Thats usually cyano. Brown is Dino....

Going to scrape it off the glass while I am doing this I'll take some pictures

Weird part about this in the morning rocks are clean going to test it in the morning maybe the light in the morning are different blue but definatily with the blower it pills off some sections has bubble in it looks like air bubbles

I would like to thank everyone one for really Helping me I don't want a reset my tank my fish went thru so much

After the marine velvet hit my tank I lost all my fish 5g then went got a 70 gallon Krilich tank keep them 3 months not only that after that I accidentally put my copper sponge in my display tank lost all my corals

I feel awful for this animal the way I did it

This sounds like dinos.

Yeah, dinos are awful. If you got rid of with a blackout, that's great (blackout didn't work for me).

Dinos definitely disappear at night, and they produce more air bubbles than cyano. I've noticed with blackouts that nitrate and phosphate increase as I've tested before/afterward and seen big increases. I wonder if the nutrient spike caused by your blackout was enough to support other organisms that were able to outcompete the dinos. My guess is for a blackout to work, dinos would have to either be relatively new or not that bad, or maybe with a nutrient load that is right on the cusp of being too low... the blackout knocks the dinos back and then they don't recover due to the elevated nutrients that allows algae, corals, other bacteria, etc. to outcompete.

I'll do a water change clean the tank what I can scrape off the glass Monday lights will go off 4 days will my corals die? Within that 4 day period

Thank you for the support

I would look up the many many threads on dinos. My corals lived by I was not housing SPS. as @Crashjack said, it's a multi-faceted approach. He (she?) is correct, just a blackout may not do it. I had been dosing NoPox for months prior, increased Reef Roids, scrubbed and scrubbed, water changes, Chemiclean... finally black out. Was it a culmination of everything and the blackout carried me over the top? Probably... did he help me? Definitely. Dinos are a nasty business. What works for one may not work for others. There are several forms of dinos - which you can only positively identify with a microscope.
Some use UV, some don't.... some dose peroxide.... some vodka.... so many options. It will be trial and error until you finally get clear of it.

when you said, increase RR i was in a thought i was feeding to much in my tank, how often do you feed your corals? twice a week? i only give food to my fish once a day, plus for my tangs i give them seaweed, you think i should cut down on the seaweed for dino's definitely i am going to get more clean up crew, rainbow aquarium having 20% off this weekend, also i thinking to get a starfish -

before dino's appeared in my tank i use to have so many of Brittle now i don't see them to much

Your corals should be fine with a 4 day blackout. However after that, I would ramp-up lighting back to normal over maybe 3 days.

Typically to battle dinos, you increase feeding/nutrients. As @CMMorgan said, check out the dinos threads.
