AliE LED bar vs. T5

When someone gets sunrise/sunset on these things, and a way to link power from bar to bar instead of multiple cords, they should really sell well. Front to back and side to side coverage is where it's at as far as preventing shadows and getting blanket coverage.

Any recommendations on what nm to get to supplement my metal halides 20k radiums? Just looking for a little pop in the tank.

the default 470 should suffice, i believe! if you want something bluer go for 450

The 20K MH already has a strong 450 (453nm) peak. Go with the stock 470nm. 20K below.

Just put in an order or 2 54w (24”) alie bars with alternating 420nm and 470nm LEDs. Quite excited about it. I am ditching the 3D printed hanging idea and is going to fashion something to use the included hanging brackets.
Im trying to order these now, how do you request them to alternate the led from 420/470 ????

There is an option to chat with the seller on the app. I used that.

Note: I changed out every third LED to cool white (10000k) to achieve a spectrum resembling AB+. The 420nm/470nm mix was too blue for me. If I order them again, I will go for alternating 395nm (UV), 470nm, and cool white.

Edit: You should be able to use the chat button on the bottom left.

Anybody know if populargrow will do custom lengths? I have a message out to them but figured id see if anybody here knows?!

I'm getting ready to pull the trigger on a pair of the bluetooth 81w (36") PopularGrow bars with a custom color mix. I went with a 470/420/450 alternating setup running the length of the bar. Should be like a ReefBrite with a little extra pop. I'll just be using them as supplements for the LUXEngine upgraded AI primary lights.

They quoted me $146 for the pair of bars, shipped. I'm just waiting on the invoice so I can pay for them.

How do you like the upgraded primes. I’ve been thinking about doing that on my tank.

I got in on the beta test, so I've been running them for 2+ years now. There are several pictures from my tank(s) on the "Colored by LUX" page of the Luxdium website for reference. I absolutely love them. I won't run anything else at this point, as long as I can find used Primes and Hydras to convert! :D

I ran the "Optimized III" color mix with reduced white on my tanks for almost 2 years, but I've switched to running the "Ultra Blue" color mix on "Gold" pucks on all my tanks.

I chose the 470/420/450 LED layout for my AliE bars based on a conversation with Tim (luxdium) as I wanted fill light that would compliment my main lights without blowing out the wide blue band that I currently have.

Thanks for the info, I greatly appreciate it

Are these (AliE bars) dimmable and can they be cotrolled via an app?

Great discussion here, the sharing of knowledge is invaluable.
I think this is what I'm looking for and would appreciate any of your input.
I'm trying to light a big tank on a small budget.

It's a 9'L x 30"w x 24"H peninsula.
I currently have 5 old school AI Hydra 52 for it. (I am hoping to get more, but these old fixtures are hard to come by)
I'm thinking to go with 4 of the 4' bars, 2 on each side.
What layout should I ask for?

In my head, I imagine these would be used mostly to even out light spread and for pop?
First on, last off sort of deal.

I was previously using PacificSun T5 Led Hybrid (which is T5 dominant), so I feel I'm kinda new to the LED-lit tank game.

I'm seeing quite a few different ads on very similar bars from the same store, sure there is the USD-CAD conversion here but they seem to have gone up in price.
Link 1 82$ Canadian
Link 2 108$ Canadian
Link 3 (Bluetooth) 90$ Canadian

I currently have an XR15 G5 Pro and want to add some more par to grow acros. What mix of LED's should I ask for?

I customised mine (own 5 bars, with three different diode arrangements). If you message them they'll advise what wavelengths they have in stock. If growth is your aim (as opposed to 'pop'), I would preference 10000k diodes supported by 420nm and 470nm (this is not based on any data but my observations).
