If it is only your alk dropping, vote just dose alk.

What is All for Reef doing to your other water parameters?

I would say either dose AFR or do water changes. What are your NO3 and PO4?

5 nitrate 0.05 po4
You may want to just run AFR for a couple weeks and see what happens to your NO3 and PO4. If they stay roughly the same I would hold back on water changes since AFR has trace elements. AFR should be used to maintain yours big 3. So you could bump up your MG over the course of the same month up to 1350 or so

It’s a change to the reef so the corals could be reacting to it. You also have to know that AFR is not instant like the two parts. It has to be broken down before it becomes usable alk. There’s something like. 24-48 hour lag time after you dose it to when it is available for corals and to be tested. The corals could be reacting to a drop in alk due to this lag time.

Ran into same thing with needing more alk than calc so instead of B Ionic two part, we got an alk that helps us keep up my pH, too - using Frank's Brew Alk daily as we drop 1 daily - manufacturer is same guy that makes F Aiptasia (now in pink): https://www.franks-tanks.com/ We mix up the pouch into a gallon jug and dose a bit each day into our sump (one day we'll automate dosing)

We also dose mag using B Ionic product, but mag doesn't get consumed as fast as alk

Keep watching how your parameters trend and you'll dial in what your tank needs

Hear great things about All for Reef, but I just need alk daily and mag every once in while - everyone is different

AFR is balanced. So it’s in the proportions that keeps alk, calc and mg stable. The corals use them at the same rate. So when you dose AFR the values stay in the same ratio.

Like everything in reefing it’s a process and takes time. Keep switching to AFR if that is where you want your tank to be. I like it because it’s easy to dose and has all the trace elements and has eliminated water changes for me.

Is 5 ml enough for 65 gallon tank before rock…can u overdose trace elements? I only have like 25 frags in the tank right now lps zoas gsp

For reference, I dose 60-70ish ml in my 75 gallon a day (pretty heavily stocked with corals). A 2KH drop a week is 100% going to need more than 5ml a day. 2KH is a sign that you are having a lot of growth in the tank.

AFR is balanced. It’s meant to have ratios of all the major and minor elements that corals use. So in theory you can’t actually overdose AFR in terms of one element per se.

I'll give my layout just for peace of mind.

200l tank dosing 1ml/10l

I was instructed to have it doser all at once 45 minutes before lights. I started at half the strength that I state and walked my way up to where I am at right now. It took between 2-5 weeks to balance out and I felt like I forgot how to use my test kits. Nothing was moving like I expected. I was again instructed to really only focus on weekly fluctuations. My Alk is locked at 8.9 Cal is 430 and Mag is 1360.

Cut it in half of recommended. I too find this solution very potent. Also add to sump- Not direct to tank
